Manchester City vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City had yet another disappointment at Anfield after coming away with a goalless draw. It was a game in which both clubs failed to make much of an impact in the final third of the pitch, but City did miss a late penalty through Riyad Mahrez. Burnley were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town at Turf Moor. Sam Vokes provided the lead for the Clarets in the first half, but Huddersfield dominated possession and equalised in the second half through Christopher Schindler.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

City were unable to find the finishing touch in the final third of the pitch over the last three matches. It is not a surprise that a club that has consistently averaged over 2.5 goals has been able to come up with just four goals in the last three games. Burnley make the trip to the Etihad Stadium after having suffered quite badly on this ground in recent times. City have been able to put 12 goals past Burnley in the last five games. Despite making substantial improvement in recent weeks, Burnley will not be a match for City in this game. I would back a Manchester City win and under 3.5 goals largely because of the disruption caused by the international break.

Sergio Aguero has enjoyed playing against Burnley and he has been able to get six goals in as many games against the Clarets. Aguero was not very influential in the goalless draw with Liverpool, but a home game against a packed defence makes me go with Aguero to score anytime.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City have to build a winning streak once again after the club’s four-game winning sequence ended with a disappointing draw against Liverpool. The result allowed Chelsea to get back level at the top of the table. Pep Guardiola has an interesting month coming up with City up against difficult opponents in three different competitions. The club are close to getting a number of key injured stars back to first-team selection and this would tremendously improve Guardiola’s ability to keep his players fit and fresh even when being involved in the Champions League.

Manchester City Team News

Bernardo Silva, Danilo (ankle), Claudio Bravo (Achilles tendon), and Ilkay Gundogan (hamstring) are unavailable for City. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Fabian Delph have also just returned to training.

Burnley Preview

Burnley are not a great team when it comes to performing on the road but this team are up and running in terms of away matches following the win over Cardiff. Sean Dyche has finally been able to strike a winning combination at Burnley, who were struggling to cope with Europa League schedule earlier in the campaign. The Clarets do appear a lot at ease since the players returned back to playing one game per week.

Burnley Team News

Nick Pope (dislocated shoulder), Ben Gibson (hernia), James Tarkowski (groin), and Stephen Ward (knee) are unavailable due to injuries.
