Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Manchester City had eyes on the bigger prize of the Premier League title and were involved in a goalless draw with Huddersfield during the weekend. Both teams had decent chances over the 90 minutes but it was Huddersfield – surprisingly – who had the best of clean chances. Brighton were able to get one of the upsets of the weekend after a 1-0 win over Manchester United. It was once again a disappointing performance from United, who conceded just 12 minutes into the second half through Paul Gross.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Guardiola’s team were able to enjoy all the plaudits in the recent game against Leicester, but the team would be keen on getting back on the winning front. Brighton hitting 40 points during the weekend is a crucial outcome as Hughton’s team has the potential to drop like a pack of cards. However, City are likely to be quite relaxed in their pursuit of goals. Brighton have been unable to score in two of the last three away matches. I would go with a game that sees City score under 2.5 goals.

City could have easily conceded a goal against Huddersfield, as the opposition had some excellent moments in the 90 minutes. Brighton are unlikely to pass up such opportunities and the club has had a decent scoring record when it comes to away matches. I would opt for both teams to score.

Manchester City Preview

Pep Guardiola was elated to win the Premier League title for the first time and it is a remarkable achievement from the Spaniard. After having won league titles in two major countries coming into this division, Guardiola says that winning the Premier League is the biggest achievement of them all. However, such kind words are unlikely to spur on the team even more. Manchester City are still in search of several records as the team failed to break a couple more in the game against Chelsea. City have been able to enjoy tremendous consistency from Gabriel Jesus, who is now up to 12 league goals.

Manchester City Team News

David Silva has been allowed to take an early vacation, while Vincent Kompany (knee) and Sergio Aguero (knee) are missing from action due to injuries.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

The impressive win over Manchester United – even if the Red Devils have been going through an inconsistent spell – helps achieve safety in the Premier League. Chris Hughton will be able to breathe a sigh of relief as it also gives Brighton an advantage with regard to procuring transfer targets for the summer. Brighton will be able to discuss with potential target well before the last week of the May. A goalscorer will be on the wish list of Brighton manager, as the club have been among the lowest scorers in the division with only 33 goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Steve Sidwell (broken ankle) is the player unavailable for the upcoming game.
