Manchester City Preview

It’s become almost impossible to avoid being dragged into spraying the typical superlatives offered in describing the quality of this Manchester City team, as they proved to be far too good for Tottenham Hotspur in their 4-1 win at the Etihad. Ilkay Gundogan headed City in front after just 14 minutes, though they were made to wait until the 70th minute as Kevin de Bruyne lashed in their second. Then, with 10 minutes to go, Raheem Sterling scored twice to continue his excellent form for the season, with Christian Eriksen netting a late consolation for the away side in stoppage time. As such, their winning record in the Premier League has now been extended to 16 consecutive games, leaving them an outstanding 11 points clear at the summit of the table after only 18 games. Tactically this City team have been far too good for anybody else to compete with as of yet, and finding a way of stopping them has proved to be nearly impossible. Everton are the only team to prevent them from taking three points in a league game this term, doing so after Kyle Walker was sent off just before half-time.

Manchester City Team News

John Stones (hamstring) and Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament) are both missing for the home side here, while Vincent Kompany is also unlikely to feature.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Bournemouth now appear to be in freefall in the Premier League, having seen their winless run continue at the weekend with an emphatic 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. It took the Reds just 20 minutes to open the scoring, with Philippe Coutinho wandering through the Bournemouth defence to score, before Dejan Lovren headed in their second six minutes later. Mohamed Salah then continued his excellent form for the Reds by scoring a game-ending third just before half-time, while Roberto Firmino added gloss to the scoreline during the second half. The defeat now leaves Bournemouth just a point above the relegation zone, with their only saving grace coming from the fact the likes of West Brom, Newcastle and Stoke can’t buy a win, also. Meanwhile, Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham are all thriving since making managerial changes, though the idea that Eddie Howe won’t be the man to take the Cherries forward is unlikely to have even crossed the minds of the board at present. Now without a win in six games, Manchester City are the last side Bournemouth would hope to face in their current plight.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Tyrone Mings (back), Charlie Daniels (groin), Josh King (hamstring) and Callum Wilson (knee) are all set to miss out here.
