Malaga vs Real Madrid Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Malaga came off worse in a 3-2 thriller with Deportivo La Coruna. Even though Malaga fell twice in the game through goals from Lucas Perez (penalty) and Adrian, they were able to make a comeback on both occasions through Guilherme’s own goal and Diego Rolan. However, there was not to be in a joy for the visitors as Adrian’s second goal of the evening led to a defeat. Real Madrid narrowly reached the semi-finals of the Champions League despite a 3-1 loss against Juventus. Goals from Mario Mandzukic (2) and Blaise Matuidi wiped out Madrid’s 3-0 advantage from the first leg, but an injury-time penalty from Ronaldo saved the day for Zinedine Zidane. During the weekend, Madrid drew 1-1 with Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo’s goal was cancelled out by Antoine Griezmann.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to come up with the first goal for Real Madrid in five out of his last 10 La Liga appearances for the club. In fact, he has opened the scoring for Real Madrid in all of the last six games. His record against Malaga is exceptional with 17 goals in 19 appearances against the club – including the opener in the last two visits to the La Rosaleda. I see excellent value in backing Ronaldo to score the opener.

Real Madrid’s poor defensive run is likely to give opportunities for clubs like Malaga, who may be among the lowest scorers in the division with only 19 goals but they have scored five in as many meetings with Madrid at the La Rosaleda. As the second-best attacking team in the division, Madrid are strong favourites to score. I would back both teams to score.

Malaga Preview

Malaga’s relegation could be confirmed in the next couple of matches, as the team have fallen 14 points behind the safety positions with seven matches left. A victory against Deportivo La Coruna might have kept Malaga alive for a few more weeks, but the team could go one step closer towards relegation this weekend. After having been struggling with form throughout the campaign, Malaga were never really in the race to avoid the drop.

Malaga Team News

Diego Rolan (calf), Adalberto Penaranda (hamstring), and Ignasi Miquel (overload) are doubtful for the game, while Recio (knee), Juan Carlos (cruciate ligament), Juanpi Anor (hamstring), and Chori Castro (thigh) are missing from action due to injuries. Luis Hernandez is the only player set to miss due to suspension.

Real Madrid Preview

Real Madrid were quite lucky to get a berth in the semi-finals of the Champions League, as the incredible comeback from Juventus could have easily knocked out the 12-time European champions. However, the domestic form remains a damaging entity for the club, as the draw with Atletico Madrid may have just taken away the potential to finish as the runner-up in the campaign. Madrid now depend heavily on the European success in order to wipe out the negative talks surrounding their La Liga campaign. The incredible form of Cristiano Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down.

Real Madrid Team News

Nacho Fernandez (thigh) is the only concern for Real Madrid.
