Lyon vs Dijon Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Lyon and Dijon will be facing each other at the Groupama Stadium on Saturday evening, with both teams looking to get back to winning ways in Ligue 1. Lyon suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat on the road at the current leaders Paris Saint Germain at the weekend, with Bruno Genesio’s men scoring two own-goals in the last 15 minutes of the game. Meanwhile, Dijon were narrowly beaten 0-1 at home by Saint-Etienne on Saturday, despite the fact they had a better ball possession and more goalscoring opportunities than the visitors. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips - Match Odds

Lyon should be able to get back to winning ways in this one as they have been a strong side in front of their own fans over the past few months, while Dijon are winless in eleven away games in Ligue 1. Lyon are only priced at odds 2/7 to win here, which isn’t such great value. However, we can find a better value in the Asian Handicap market, as Lyon to cover the Asian Handicap -1, -1.5 looks a solid bet at odds 3/5.

Betting Prediction: Asian Handicap -1, -1.5 on Lyon at 3/5

Match odds:

Lyon to win at odds 2/7 with Bet365

Lyon v Dijon draw at odds 9/2 with William Hill

Dijon to win at odds 11/1 with Betfair

Lyon v Dijon - Correct score betting tips and odds

Lyon have scored at least two goals in seven of their last eight home games across all competitions, while Dijon have conceded nine goals in their last four away games. Dijon have the worst defensive record in the division with 13 goals conceded in six rounds, but they did well to score three goals in their last two league trips. Our correct score prediction for this clash is Lyon to win 3-1 at odds 9/1 with Bet365.

Correct score prediction: Lyon to win 3-1 with Bet365

Lyon v Dijon - Total Goals predictions and odds

It should be goals in this one as Lyon’s home form over the past four months has seen them score at least two goals in seven of their last eight games across all competitions, while Dijon have allowed at least two goals in five of their last six away games. Furthermore, the four meetings between these two sides have seen more than three goals scored. Over 3.5 goals look good value at odds 1/1, given the fact that the most recent two games between these two sides have seen six goals scored each.

Lyon Preview

Lyon’s unbeaten start to the new Ligue 1 season ended in a dramatic manner last weekend as they lost 2-0 on the road at Paris Saint Germain following two own-goals by Marcelo and Jeremy Morel in the last 15 minutes of the game. Prior to this result, they put in another disappointing performance, as they only managed a 1-1 draw at Apollon in their Europa League group opener, with the hosts leveling the game in the stoppage time. Despite their recent league defeat against PSG, Lyon still sit in a comfortable 5th position in the standings with eleven points to their name after six rounds, four points behind the second-placed Monaco. Although they have lost two of their last season’s best players in the shape of Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso this summer, Lyon still managed an impressive tally of eleven goals in six rounds so far this season. The summer signing Mariano Diaz and Nabil Fekir have both enjoyed a strong start to the season, as the pair bagged eight goals and one assist between them. Lyon’s home form over the past four months has been solid as they have won five and draw three of their last eight home fixtures across all competitions. Furthermore, Lyon have won their both home meetings with Dijon in Ligue 1, scoring at least three goals in each of these.

Lyon Team News

Pape Cheikh Dlop Gueye is a doubt, but Amine Gouiri is back in training following his injury.

Dijon Preview

On the contrary, Dijon have endured a terrible start to the new Ligue 1 season, winning just once in their opening six league fixtures. Their sole victory of the season came against Montpellier on matchday four, but since then they have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Caen and Saint-Etienne. Dijon’s biggest problem throughout this early part of the season has been their leaky defence, as they hold the worst defensive record in the division with 13 goals conceded in six rounds. At the other end of the pitch, Dijon only managed six goals so far this season, including two from their topscorer Benjamin Jeannot. The most worrying fact is that Dijon are winless in their last twelve competitive away fixtures, losing eight and drawing four in the process. Actually, Dijon are winless in eleven league trips since a 2-3 win at Lorient back in January 2017. Furthermore, Dijon have suffered defeats in their both visits to the Groupama Stadium, conceding at least three goals in each of these. Head-to-head, Dijon have only won once in their four meetings with Lyon in Ligue 1, which came in their home fixture against Les Gones last season.

Dijon Team News

Eden Massouema, Mehdi Abeid and Chang-Hoon Kwon are all doubts, but Wesley Lautoa is still out through injury.
