Liverpool vs Manchester United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Liverpool were able to come up with a strong performance to beat Bournemouth 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium. After several efforts to open the scoring, Liverpool breathed a sigh of relief when Salah scored after 25 minutes. The Egyptian went on to complete a hat-trick by scoring either side of an own goal from Steve Cook. The midweek match against Napoli witnessed Anfield erupting once again after a 1-0 win saw the Reds through to the knockout stages. Manchester United picked up a first league victory in five matches after beating Fulham 4-1 at home. Ashley Young, Juan Mata, and Romelu Lukaku scored in the first half to hand United a huge lead. Even though Aboubakar Kamara’s penalty threatened an unlikely comeback, it was eliminated by Marcus Rashford’s late goal. United, though, went on to lose 2-1 against Valencia in the midweek Champions League game.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

United will be having a defensive approach for this match – just like last season when the team picked up a goalless draw at Anfield. However, Liverpool have enough momentum coming into the game while Anfield will act as a 12th man. Even though Liverpool have not been offensively great this season, they have a solid platform to pick up a victory in this match.

The defensive approach from United may be able to work to a certain extent, as Liverpool have not been offensively great this season. Liverpool have also struggled to bring down goals against the top teams. I would pick a match with under 2.5 goals.

Liverpool Preview

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will be stepping onto a remarkable atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday considering the achievements of the club in the last one week. After having topped the table with a comfortable win over Bournemouth, Liverpool find themselves in the last 16 of the Champions League at the expense of Napoli. The Reds have shown a remarkable will to win the season and it is a different Liverpool compared to the team that was intent on providing entertainment last season.

Liverpool Team News

Joel Matip (shoulder), Alexander Arnold (foot), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (cruciate ligament), and Joe Gomez (broken leg) are unavailable for the Reds.

Manchester United Preview

Jose Mourinho still reels under a lot of pressure at Manchester United with the team going from one bad result to the other. Just when it seemed that the victory over Fulham could be used as a platform for forthcoming matches, the defeat against Valencia at the Mestalla puts United back on frame. United have problems in almost every aspect of the pitch and the growing list of injuries certainly does not help the team. One of the few advantages for the team has been the performances of Marcus Rashford, who has received the praise of manager Mourinho.

Manchester United Team News

Anthony Martial (thigh), Chris Smalling (foot), Luke Shaw, Alexis Sanchez (hamstring), Victor Lindelof (hamstring), and Eric Bailly (muscle) are unavailable for Mourinho.
