Liverpool vs FC Porto Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Liverpool will look to get the job done when they welcome FC Porto at Anfield on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. The Premier League side hold a five-goal cushion for this return fixture and anything than a 0-6 home loss will see them book their place in the quarter-finals of the competition. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

We still fancy Liverpool to win here despite the fact they managed a comfortable victory in the first leg. The Reds have suffered just one defeat on home soil this season and have scored at least two goals in each of the most recent eight home fixtures.

Liverpool to win and 3 or more goals in the match at odds 23/20 with William Hill

Both teams to score - Yes at odds 8/11 with William Hill

Liverpool are undefeated in all of their last 10 games

Liverpool Preview

The Reds haven’t reached the Champions League round of 16 in nine years, but they are now 99% qualified for this stage of the competition. Liverpool have thrashed Porto 5-0 in the first leg a fortnight ago thanks to a hat-trick from Sadio Mane and two other goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. The Reds enter the fray on the back of a six-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, including a 2-0 home victory against Newcastle in the Premier League at the weekend. Liverpool are now undefeated in four league outings, winning three in the process. At home, Liverpool have suffered just one defeat in their last 21 games across all competitions and are undefeated in four Champions League fixtures this season. Actually, the Reds have lost just once in their last seven Champions League home games this season. Liverpool should feel confident ahead of this match as they have won all 32 of the UEFA competition ties in which they won the away first leg. Although Liverpool hold an impressive advantage in this tie, we’re still expecting a fairly strong lineup here as Jurgen Klopp will look to continue their momentum.

Liverpool Team News

Georginio Wijnaldum and Ben Woodburn are both doubts, while Rhian Brewster is out through an ankle injury. The good news is that Adam Bogdan is back in training following his injury.

FC Porto Preview

FC Porto’s humiliating defeat against Liverpool a fortnight ago was their sole negative result over the past month. Apart from that loss, Porto have won seven games over the past month, including a creditable 2-1 home victory against Sporting in the Primeira Liga at the weekend. The bad news is that FC Porto have been terrible on the road in the Champions League over the past three years, having won just three of their nine trips. In addition, Porto’s record at this stage of the competitions is three wins and six loss, having won just one of their last four ties. Furthermore, Porto have not beaten English teams in a knockout tie since Jose Mourinho eliminated Manchester United in the 2003/04 Champions League round of 16 en route to lifting the trophy. The Dragons have collected just four points on their travels in Group G this season, registering a 3-0 win at Monaco on matchday two prior to a 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig and a 1-1 draw against Besiktas. Vincent Aboubakar is a player to watch here as he have netted five goals throughout this Champions League campaign and 15 in the Primeira Liga.

FC Porto Team News

Ribeiro de Freitas Fabiano, Francisco das Chagas Soares dos Santos and Alex Nicolao Telles are all doubts, while Moussa Marega is still missing through a thigh injury.
