Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Liverpool host Chelsea at Anfield on 25/11/17 in a huge game for two top-four chasing sides in the Premier League. Liverpool drew 3-3 with Sevilla in incredible fashion at the weekend, while Chelsea were 4-0 winners away at Qarabag. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given the way in which Liverpool simply collapsed in the second half against Sevilla, I’m expecting a huge response from Jurgen Klopp’s side here. With Liverpool losing just two games at Anfield this calendar year, I'm expecting them to win again here.

Liverpool win - 23/20
Mo Salah to score anytime - 8/5

Liverpool Preview

There was simply no excuse for Liverpool’s complete meltdown away to Sevilla in the Champions League last time out, drawing 3-3 with the La Liga side on Wednesday evening. Jurgen Klopp’s men were 3-0 up heading into the break, as a Roberto Firmino brace, scored either side of a Sadio Mane header, saw the Premier League side go in comfortably ahead at the break. However, few people could’ve predicted what came afterwards, as Eduardo Berizzo’s men staged an astonishing comeback in the second half, with a double from Wissam Ben Yedder and stoppage time goal from Guido Pizarro sealing a famous comeback for the home side. As such, Liverpool are still not yet guaranteed a place in the knockout round and need to defeat Spartak Moscow on the final matchday of the group stages to ensure they go through as group winners. They must now quickly regroup and bounce back from Tuesday’s disappointment and there could hardly be any more motivating fixtures for them to face than Chelsea at home. Liverpool have performed well at Anfield this season, winning four and drawing two of their six Premier League games, as well as winning two and drawing one in the Champions League. Winning their last successive three games at Anfield 3-0, an identical result this weekend would see Klopp’s men overtake Chelsea in the Premier League table.

Liverpool Team News

Nathaniel Clyne (back) is ruled out, but they are confident Joel Matip (thigh) will be fit to return.

Chelsea Preview

Chelsea picked up their second 4-0 win in five days in Kazakhstan on Wednesday evening, as they booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with victory over Qarabag. Eden Hazard’s penalty sent the Blues on their way, with Willian making it 2-0 before half-time. Cesc Fabregas was also successful from the spot, before Willian grabbed his second of the game to boost Chelsea confidence before such an important fixture. Liverpool remain the only team of last season’s top six that Chelsea are yet to face in the Premier League this season and they will feel relatively happy with their points return from those games so far, having won two, drawn one and lost one to date. They have also performed better away from home than at Stamford Bridge in the league this season, winning five of their six games on the road including a 2-1 success at Tottenham. Given that Manchester City already boast a nine-point lead over last season’s reigning Premier League champions, this is a game Antonio Conte’s team can ill afford to lose - or arguably draw - as they look to end a five-match wait for a win against Liverpool. Their last Premier League win at Anfield came in November 2014, with Chelsea drawing 1-1 in their previous two visits to Merseyside.

Chelsea Team News

Michy Batshuayi (foot) is ruled out, while Victor Moses (hamstring) is doubtful.
