Betting Tips and Predictions

It will be difficult for England to really get themselves particularly motivated for this game, but I’m expecting them to win comfortably with little resistance provided from their opposition.

Lithuania Preview

Lithuania may have been expecting to win their second game of this qualifying group but came unstuck away to Malta on Thursday night as the home team battled hard for a 1-1 draw. Neither team had anything to play for other than pride alone, which created a somewhat uninspiring affair, as Malta took the lead on 23 minutes through Andre Agius. Lithuania, though, weren’t to be denied as they finished the group stages unbeaten against their fellow footballing minnows, equalising through Vykintas Slivka in the second half. That result leaves Lithuania on six points from nine matches heading into this fixture, having previously defeated Malta, as well as picking up draws against Slovenia and Scotland early in the qualifying campaign. There has been a noticeable improvement from Lithuania during this run of fixtures, and only lost 2-0 when they last faced England at Wembley Stadium in March. Lithuania have won two and drawn one of their last five at home, but come into this fixture aiming to bounce back from back-to-back home games.

England Preview

It may have been unspectacular, but England secured their place at next year’s World Cup in Russia following their 1-0 home victory over Slovenia at Wembley. A frustrating evening appeared to be set to result in a 0-0 draw for Gareth Southgate’s men, who struggled to find the necessary imagination to break down their opponents, until Kyle Walker crossed for Harry Kane. England’s captain converted confidently, extending his recent outstanding form for club and country into October after 13 goals in seven games in September. Southgate’s side have failed to really light the imagination of the public in recent outings, getting the job done without looking particularly impressive in doing so. Kane now looks set to take the captain’s armband on a permanent basis, with the 24-year-old being put in the spotlight as England’s new talisman. Southgate may use this game to look at some of the squad’s fringe and more inexperienced players here, with Harry Maguire and Harry Winks both still waiting for their first senior cap.
