Levante vs Espanyol Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Levante’s season hit a new low after a 1-0 loss against Deportivo Alaves in the midweek match. Chema was sent off in the 29th minute after pulling down Alfonso Pedraza in the box, but Manu Garcia missed the resulting penalty. The numerical advantage for Alaves was negated in the 77th minute when Munir was sent off with a second yellow card. However, Victor Laguardia scored from a corner in the final minute of the game to defeat Levante. Espanyol produced an incredible performance to beat Real Madrid 1-0 at the RCDE Stadium. The game appeared to be heading for a stalemate when Gerard Moreno scored the winner in the third minute of injury time.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Espanyol will be jumping with delight after the late win over Real Madrid. The Catalans won at the Ciudad de Valencia only at the start of January for a Copa del Rey encounter. Levante have lost four on the bounce and have failed to win in 14 league matches. Espanyol have the potential to take advantage of this poor form, and I would choose a win for the away team. Gerard Moreno’s form keeps getting better with every week and the striker is now up to 14 for the campaign. The 25-year-old has been able to score in three out of his last five appearances, while he has also scored in his last two games against Levante. I would back Moreno to score anytime.

Levante Preview

Levante were able to remain outside the drop zone after the midweek results, but the club cannot expect to sustain this position for long – especially if they extend their current poor run. The four-game losing sequence happens to be the worst for Levante in this 2017-18 La Liga campaign. The club are also winless in 14 matches. The Copa del Rey win over Espanyol in the first game of 2018 is the only successful Levante since December. Even though Levante have struggled for goals throughout the campaign, the defence has been fairly well organised with only 41 goals conceded so far – the best record amongst the bottom five teams.

Levante Team News

Ivan Lopez (cruciate ligament), Raul Fernandez (hip), and Alex Alegria (cruciate ligament) miss out due to injuries, while Chema is suspended after his red card against Alaves.

Espanyol Preview

The win over Real Madrid is a huge deal for Espanyol, as it will provide the club with a much-needed lift in order to push for the top 10 places. Even after having only managed seven victories so far this season, Espanyol remain within touching distance of the top half. The club trail 10th-placed Getafe by just five points after the midweek results. Espanyol, though, have been heavily dependent on Gerard Moreno for the goals, but the 25-year-old has not disappointed. He is now into double figures for the league season with 11 goals.

Espanyol Team News

Adrian Lopez is the only player unavailable for Espanyol due to a meniscus injury.
