FCI Levadia vs Cork City Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Levadia Tallinn and Cork City will square off at the Parnu Rannastaadion in Parnu on Thursday afternoon for the first leg of their Europa League first qualifying round tie. Levadia Tallinn head into this tie on the back of a 3-0 win over Nomme Utd in the first round of the Estonian Cup. Meanwhile, Cork City fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-2 away win at Derry City in the Irish Premier Division thanks to first-half goals from Karl Sheppard and Gearoid Morrissey. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both teams have been dominating their domestic championships, and both have been scoring goals for fun during their recent runs. It’s difficult to predict the winner here, but it should be an entertaining affair with goals at both ends of the field. Levadia have found the back of the net at least twice in four of their last five home fixtures across all competitions. Meanwhile, Cork City have netted at least two goals in eleven of their last 13 away games.

FCI Levadia Preview

Levadia Tallinn finished second in the Estonian First League last term to book their place into the Europa League first qualifying round. They kicked off the new domestic season in a similar manner as they are undefeated after 17 rounds, winning 13 and drawing four in the process. Despite this impressive run, Levadia still sit in second in the Meistriliiga table, four points off the current leaders and their city rivals Flora Tallinn. The Estonians are currently undefeated in 28 games across all competitions since a 2-1 loss at the hands of Infonet Tallinn in the Estonian Cup back in the middle of October 2016. Levadia have also participated in the Europa League qualifiers last year, but they were eliminated in the second round due to the away goal rule following a 3-3 aggregate draw against Slavia Prague. On home soil, Levadia Tallinn are currently on a 19-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, conceding just seven goals in the process. Furthermore, the Estonians are undefeated in their last four European home fixtures, scoring three goals in two of these. Rimo Hunt is a player to watch for Levadia Tallinn, as the veteran striker is currently their top scorer with eleven goals under his belt after 17 appearances in the Meistriliiga.

FCI Levadia Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for Levadia Tallinn ahead of this clash.

Cork City Preview

Meanwhile, Cork City were the runners-up in the Irish Premier Division behind Dundalk for the past three years, but they are completely dominating the league this season. They managed to book their place into the Europa League qualifiers after they won the Irish Cup last season. Cork sit comfortably top of the Irish Premier Division table with 55 points under their belts after 19 rounds, already 15 points clear of second-placed Dundalk. They have looked amazing at both ends of the pitch throughout their domestic championship so far this season, scoring 54 goals while conceding just 10. Sean Maguire has enjoyed an excellent domestic campaign as he is the division’s top scorer at the moment in time with 18 goals in his 19 league appearances. Cork enter the fray on the back of a 24-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, winning 22 of them. Cork did well to beat Linfield and Hacken in the first two Europa League qualifying rounds last year, but they lost 3-1 on aggregate at the hands of Genk in the third round. Cork have struggled to pick up positive results on the road in the Europa League over the past years, winning just two of their last nine European away games. The good news is that Cork are currently on a 13-game unbeaten streak away from home, scoring at least two goals in eleven of these.

Cork City Team News

Alec Byrne and Conor McCarthy have both been included in the squad, although the latter has just finished his Leaving Certificate.
