Leicester City vs Manchester City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Leicester City welcome Manchester CIty to the King Power Stadium on 18/11/17 as the away side look to continue their rampant Premier League form. Leicester drew 2-2 away to Stoke last time out, while Man City ran out 3-1 winners against Arsenal. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Given the way they have been playing this season, it’s difficult to back against Manchester City picking up the three points in this one. Scoring goals at will at present, I’m expecting the away side to continue their impressive attacking form at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City Preview

Claude Puel will have been irked that his side were unable to come away with three points at Stoke after the Foxes twice threw away a lead to draw 2-2 at the Bet365 Stadium before the international break. Vicente Iborra opened the scoring for Leicester with his first goal for the club just after the half hour mark, but Xherdan Shaqiri responded six minutes later for the Potters. Riyad Mahrez restored Leicester’s advantage with an excellent solo effort, but Peter Crouch again drew the hosts level as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw for the third successive season. Puel will be more than happy with his opening return of four points from his first two games as the Frenchman aims to restore his reputation in England to a certain extent following his sacking from Southampton at the end of last season. This will now undoubtedly be his toughest test since arriving at the King Power Stadium, but he may look to follow last season’s blueprint when preparing for City this time around. Jamie Vardy scored a hat-trick and Andy King also scored as Leicester ran out 4-2 winners - leading 3-0 after just 20 minutes - as they severely exposed City’s high defensive line. Having already lost at home to Chelsea and Liverpool this season, Leicester will hope to avoid defeat against another one of last season’s top four here.

Leicester City Team News

Robert Huth (ankle) and Matthew James (achilles) are both ruled out, while Ben Chilwell (knock) and Vicente Iborra (ankle) will be assessed.

Manchester City Preview

Manchester City moved further clear at the top of the Premier League table, with their 3-1 victory over Arsenal putting the gap between themselves and Manchester United at eight points. Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring with an excellent finish after 19 minutes, before Sergio Aguero made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half from the penalty spot. Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back to make things interesting with 25 minutes to go, but Gabriel Jesus put the game to bed as he tapped in from David Silva’s low pass into the box. With Manchester United losing 1-0 to Chelsea later in the afternoon, there is clear breathing space between Pep Guardiola’s side and the rest of the chasing pack, with the goal now being to sustain this relentless run of form they are currently on. Winning their last 15 in a row in all competitions - nine of which have come in the Premier League - City are clear favourites to go on and win the league this season and could even find themselves challenging for European honours. Pep Guardiola will need to learn lessons from last season’s trip to Leicester, though, having been exposed by the pace of Jamie Vardy in their 4-2 loss at the King Power the last time they travelled there.

Manchester City Team News

Fabian Delph (calf), David Silva (neck) and Raheem Sterling (back) will all be assessed. Nicolas Otamendi is suspended while Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament) is ruled out for Manchester City. Vincent Kompany (calf) is a doubt.
