Leicester City vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Leicester City welcome Hull City to the King Power Stadium on 04/03/17 in a relegation six-pointer between two struggling sides in the Premier League. Leicester showed form replicant of last season when they beat Liverpool 3-1 at home on Monday night. Hull, on the other hand, were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley in their most recent outing. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leicester’s win last Monday was somewhat of an indictment on the players and their effort throughout the season so far. Hull will prove to be a tough fixture for them, but judging by the way their players responded to the manager leaving I’m expecting them to follow up with a second successive win here.

Leicester win - 5/6

Leicester win and both teams to score YES - 10/3

Leicester Preview

Leicester may have beaten Liverpool 3-1 on Monday evening, yet it still didn’t appear to do the image of their players any good. Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes, sliding past Simon Mignolet after Marc Albrighton released the England international with an early ball in behind the Liverpool defence. Danny Drinkwater’s excellent volley then doubled Leicester’s advantage before Vardy put the game out of sight of the visitors in the second half. Philippe Coutinho’s consolation strike couldn’t inspire a Liverpool comeback as questions were asked of why Leicester players hadn’t put in such a shift for Claudio Ranieri in the weeks prior to his sacking. This was an intense, motivated and energetic performance from the defending champions and one of which we have seldom seen the like of throughout 2016/17 from the Foxes. The ultimate judgement to come from that result is that the players truly did want Ranieri gone. Despite all their troubles, the Foxes have managed to win five of their last eight matches in all competitions at the King Power Stadium, a record they will be looking to improve further when they face Hull. After losing 2-1 away to the Tigers on the opening day of the season, they will feel as if they owe them one for that shock result.

Hull Preview

Hull dropped below Crystal Palace into 19th last weekend after they were unable to see off Burnley at home, drawing 1-1 with the Clarets who have hugely struggled on their travels this season. In a tense affair, Marco Silva’s side broke the deadlock with just eighteen minutes remaining as Tom Huddlestone converted a penalty to put the home side in the driving seat. The lead was short lived, though, as Michael Keane converted with a fantastic finish from a Robbie Brady corner as they held onto their position of 11th in the Premier League table. Having won four in a row coming into the game against a side who are still without a win away all season, this was a game Hull really would’ve targeted three points from, albeit this was far from a gimme result. For all of Silva’s impressive early impact at the KCOM Stadium, one thing he hasn’t been able to turn around is their shocking away form, with Hull managing just a single draw in their last eleven on the road, the other ten being defeats. That said, this may be considered by some as their first winnable away match for quite some time in the league, having gone to Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in their last three, and remained competitive in all of them.

Leicester Team News

Molla Wague (shoulder) is expected to be unavailable for Leicester once again, who could welcome Islam Slimani back into the squad. The club otherwise have no fresh injury concerns and are set to name an unchanged lineup here.

Hull Team News

Moses Odubajo (knee), Michael Dawson (calf), Curtis Davies (hamstring), Ryan Mason (skull fracture), Markus Henriksen (shoulder) and Will Keane (cruciate ligament) are all ruled out for Hull. Harry Maguire and Lazar Markovic should shake off knocks to be involved here.
