Leicester City vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Leicester City were able to come up with yet another incredible scalp as they beat Manchester City 2-1 on Boxing Day. Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for City with a typical passing move in the 14th minute. However, the lead lasted only five minutes with Marc Albrighton’s header providing parity to the scores. A late goal from Ricardo Pereira put Leicester in front while Fabian Delph’s straight red card in the 89th minute effectively ended the contest. Cardiff City were able to claim a point against Crystal Palace after a goalless draw at Selhurst Park.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leicester City will have great expectations coming into the game after coming up with victories over Manchester City and Chelsea. Even though Cardiff are significantly lower in terms of quality than these opponents, Leicester will have motivational issues coming into the game. Cardiff had to face a lot of shots from Crystal Palace and Leicester’s momentum going forward is also equally good, but Puel’s defensive tactics is likely to lead to a lower return of goals. Still, I would pick a win for Leicester.

Jamie Vardy had a couple of good opportunities to score against Manchester City while he came up with the winner against Chelsea last weekend. The England international has complained about the club’s tactics not being suited to his requirements but there have been signs of an improvement in this regard. I would back Vardy to score anytime.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester City have produced two monumental performances to rise up to 7th in the league table. It is hard for Claude Puel to build on the wins over Chelsea and Manchester City, as the players are likely to be less motivated for games against the likes of Cardiff and Newport County. The Foxes have so far struggled to get the best out of Jamie Vardy with the striker even claiming that the club’s formation does not suit him, but there has been a sizeable change in recent matches and Vardy has started becoming more effective going forward. James Maddison has shone in the number 10 role this season and he was once again very effective against City as the playmaker.

Leicester City Team News

Daniel Amartey (ankle) are unavailable for Leicester.

Cardiff City Preview

Cardiff City were able to snatch a point against Crystal Palace despite facing an astonishing 31 shots in the 90 minutes. It is once again underlining the away blues for Cardiff, who have picked up just two points on the road this season. The remaining 13 points accumulated by Neil Warnock’s men have been at home, which will be the key for keeping the club in the division. Cardiff were not without their chances against Crystal Palace and it is down to a decent run in front of goal of late. Callum Paterson tops the scoring charts at Cardiff after coming up with four goals.

Cardiff City Team News

Ashley Richards (hamstring), Callum Paterson (knee), Daniel Ward (knee), and Kenneth Zohore (thigh) are missing from action for Cardiff.
