Leicester City vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Leicester City welcome Burnley to the King Power Stadium on 02/12/17 in a meeting of two well-performing sides in the Premier League. Both won in midweek, with Leicester impressively beating Tottenham 1-0, while Burnley defeated Bournemouth 2-1. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The performances of both of these sides in recent weeks have been extremely impressive, Burnley in particular as they have risen to 6th in the table. It is away from home where they have particularly caught the eye and I’m expecting the Clarets to pick up another away result this weekend.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester City produced arguably their best performance of the season so far as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes took the lead just thirteen minutes into the first half, as Jamie Vardy scored a superb first-time chip over Hugo Lloris. Riyad Mahrez then put forth his effort for goal of the game as he cut inside from the right to find the top corner from 25 yards out just on the stroke of half-time as Leicester went in 2-0 up at the break. Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs ten minutes from time to restore hope for the away side, but Leicester held on to secure an important and impressive win on Wednesday night. Claude Puel’s arrival at the King Power Stadium was met with scepticism and an overall underwhelming feeling, but the Frenchman has performed well so far in his stint in charge, losing just once during his time as manager, with that coming against runaway leaders Manchester City. Even that game could’ve been so much different had Vincent Kompany been sent off when bringing down Vardy in the first half. As such, they have taken eight points from their last five games, winning three of their last four games at home and now sit 9th in the Premier League table.

Leicester City Team News

Robert Huth (ankle) and Matty James (achilles) are ruled out for Leicester.

Burnley Preview

The relative ease in which Burnley came away from Bournemouth with three points last time out demonstrated traits of a side who have now transcended to another level in the Premier League after winning 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. Chris Wood opened the scoring for the away side from close range, before Robbie Brady struck their second midway through the second half as he found the top corner from 25 yards out. Josh King pulled one back for Bournemouth ten minutes from time in what was one of their few chances in the game. In truth, the only disappointing factor of the game for Burnley was the fact that they didn’t win by more, but they will certainly take yet another three points away from home here. This most recent win has taken their away record this season to four wins, two draws and just one defeat, with that also coming against Manchester City who almost no side have been able to stop so far this season. Burnley have now also overtaken Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table, rising up to 6th and are incredibly just three points behind Arsenal in 4th. Sean Dyche’s performance with this team this season has thrown him into contention for manager of the year, with both he and Pep Guardiola the outstanding candidates at present.

Burnley Team News

Jonathan Walters (knee) has returned to training, but Tom Heaton (dislocated shoulder) is still missing through injury.
