Leicester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Leicester City were left humiliated by a 4-1 defeat at home against Crystal Palace during the weekend. A cruel deflection led to Michy Batshuayi scoring just before the break with Crystal Palace’s first shot at goal. Johnny Evans equalised for Leicester, but a late collapse by the Foxes led to goals from Wilfred Zaha (2) and Luka Milivojevic. Brighton were able to seal a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 2-1 victory over Derby. Anthony Knockaert and Jurgen Locadia provided the opening goals for Brighton, who had to hold on in the last few minutes after Ashley Cole came up with a goal for Derby.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brighton will be looking to get back to basics and register their second clean sheet in six matches. Leicester may play the counter-attacking style that has benefited them immensely in the past, but Brighton will have numbers at the back. Both teams are likely to cancel out each other on a number of fronts and I would back a draw.

The two teams have struggled going forward of late and the lack of a manager at Leicester can work both ways in terms of the home team’s offensive threat. However, Brighton will be in a defensive mode as ever. Even though both teams are capable of scoring, I would go with under 2.5 goals.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester will have a new man in the dugout after the departure of Claude Puel. The Frenchman lasted just over 16 months at the club and his time at the club has been blighted by a lot of criticism – especially with the use of established forwards like Jamie Vardy. The Foxes have been trying to play a possession style of football under Puel but the team has not been able to make much of an impact in matches. There is likely to be a significant shift in the brand of football at Leicester now with Claude Puel out of the way and this is likely to benefit Jamie Vardy, who has struggled in the last few months.

Leicester City Team News

Ben Chilwell (knock), Marc Albrighton (hamstring), and Daniel Amartey (broken ankle) are unavailable for Leicester.

Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

Chris Hughton has a huge headache coming up with his Brighton team unable to overcome a poor sequence of results. The winless run for the team has hit six matches and it is threatening to make a negative impact on their league campaign. A few months ago, Brighton seemed in a position to finish in the top six but the team are now just three points above the drop zone. The threat of relegation is starting to be felt at the club, who also have to contend with the distraction of the FA Cup.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Jason Steele (wrist), Davy Propper (illness), Solly March (ankle), and Jurgen Locadia (ankle) are now available due to injuries, while Florin Andone is suspended for the match.
