Leganes vs Girona Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Leganes fell to a second consecutive defeat, as Eibar were able to get a 1-0 win in their latest league outing. There was little separating the two teams for much of the game, and the home team were only able to score just after half-time through defender Alejandro Galvez. Girona also suffered a second consecutive loss, as they were beaten by Sevilla 1-0 on Sunday. Despite playing on the road, Sevilla were able to dominate the game with seven shots on target. However, it required a 69th minute goal from Luis Muriel in order to provide the game’s only goal. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

There have been no stalemates for Leganes in the first four games of the season, but I can see this game heading to a draw. Girona will want to take something out of this away game, and the team are up against a Leganes outfit who are struggling in front of goal. Yet, Leganes are decent at the back and have already kept two clean sheets in the season. I can see this game heading to a draw.

Both teams are not prolific in front of goal, while they have also been relatively decent at the back. Leganes have conceded just three goals, while Girona have done relatively well for a newly promoted team with five goals conceded in the first four games. I would back this game to finish with less than 2.5 goals.

Leganes Preview

The back-to-back defeats have taken away any positives from the start made by Leganes to the 2017-18 La Liga season. After having started the campaign with back-to-back wins – in which they also kept clean sheets, Leganes have just one goal in the last two games. The team has also been looking devoid of ideas up front. The next few weeks could be crucial for the club, as the team are against Girona, Las Palmas, and Malaga in the next four matches. Getting results against teams expected to be in the mix for relegation battle would be crucial for Leganes, who finished just outside the drop zone last season. Asier Garitano has seen three different scorers in the first four games of the season.

Leganes Team News

Jon Serantes (shoulder) and Ezequiel Munoz (back) are the absentees due to injury for Leganes.

Girona Preview

The surprise start the campaign for Girona saw them go unbeaten in the first two games of the season, but the last two matches have brought in a sense of reality to the club. Despite facing two teams that were able to finish in the top seven of last season’s table, Girona would have expected more from the last two games. The next few weeks will bring a mix of great competition and the chances for three points. Girona are up against Barcelona and Villarreal, but the team also face potential relegation contenders like Leganes and Deportivo La Coruna. Christian Stuani remains the top scorer at Girona with two goals in the league.

Girona Team News

David Timor (foot) and Carles Planas (physical discomfort) are the only injury worries for the newly promoted Girona.
