Leeds United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Wednesday evening (19:45) live TV fixture features two sides in the top-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Leeds will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 3-0 loss at Middlesbrough on Friday evening. United can have few complaints about the result as they struggled to create chances and couldn’t deal with the threat of Patrick Bamford at the other end. Wolves were scheduled to play Reading on Saturday evening but that game fell victim to the weather. It means Wanderers were last in action February 24th where they lost 2-0 away to Fulham. The reverse fixture came in November at Molineux and the Black Country won that game comfortably 4-1. Barry Douglas, Ivan Cavaleiro, Diogo Jota and a Helder Costa penalty were their scorers while Egzijan Alioski netted for the visitors who also had Ronaldo Vieira Nan dismissed.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Wolves might be a popular bet here given the prices on offer but they have stuttered a few times recently and if Cardiff win on Tuesday night that gap at the top is down to just three points and pressure can do funny things so I would not be looking to get with them. I could not though bring myself to side with Leeds who are a work in progress under manager Paul Heckingbottom. Three of the last four for the Black Country outfit and three of the last five for the Yorkshire side have seen both teams find the back of the net and this looks the way to play the game. In addition, the last five Leeds games have seen a total of eight goals netted in the opening half so take a small interest on the first 45 minutes to see over 1.5 goals.

Leeds United Preview

The Whites have now won just one of their last 11 Championship matches and find themselves in 12th eight points outside the play-off race. Three of their next four at home and they must start putting some points on the board if they want to make a late run at the top six. At Elland Road, victory in their last fixture played put to an end a run of four without a success. Three of their last four and seven of their last 11 at their own ground has seen both teams find the back of the net. Pierre-Michel Lasogga is their leading goalscorer this season with ten league goals and has five in his last eight. Each of the last six Leeds have played have seen at least one goal in the opening half.

Leeds United Team News

Kemar Roofe (knock), Pablo Hernandez (groin), Conor Shaughnessy (unknown) and Tyler Roberts (shin) are doubts while Luke Ayling (ankle) is a long-term absentee.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Three without a defeat is hardly a crisis but when the club has been dominating all before it then it has started to make a few fans nervous. Especially, as Cardiff have been playing so well and closed the gap to six while Villa in third are ten behind and fourth placed Fulham are 11 behind and playing so well. Away from Molineux, defeat at Fulham put to an end an unbeaten run of nine games in the league. None of their last four and just two of their last eight on their travel have gone over 2.5 goals. Three of the last four Wolves have played have seen both teams find the back of the net but just two of the 11 previous had done so. Alfred N’Diaye and Helder Costa have both netted two in their last four.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Team News

Bright Enobakhare (unknown), Joe Mason (stomach) and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh (ankle) are doubts. Carl Ikeme is a long-term absentee as he continues his fight against Leukemia. Ruben Neves will miss the game through suspension.
