Leeds United vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Sunday afternoon (12:30) fixture features two sides in the middle third of the Championship table with little to play for.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Leeds suffered their last third loss in their last four league fixtures going down to Norwich at Carrow Road last weekend.  They had taken the lead through Kalvin Phillips but ended up shipping two and losing the tie 2-1.

QPR bounced back to winning ways last time out as they defeated Birmingham 3-1 at Loftus Road.  They fought back from a goal behind thanks to a strike each from Bright Osayi-Samuel, Ilias Chair and Matt Smith to claim all three points.

The reverse fixture came in December with a Kemar Roofe hat-trick giving Leeds a 3-1 road victory.  Pawel Wszolek got a late consolation for the Rs who saw their unbeaten head-to-head record of six meetings come to an end.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue against the prices on offer here which have Leeds favourites for the game but QPR are given a respected price.  Both sides are led by managers who are not guaranteed to be kept on in the summer so that makes predicting a winner for the fixture a tricky proposition.
In a tricky looking match the best solution is to look at a couple of goalscorer betting options.  I like the look of Pablo Hernandez for the home side who has two in his last three at Elland Road.  Luke Freeman has two in his last five on the road and both look worth an anytime scorer bet.

Leeds United Preview

The Whites miserable end to the season continues as they have taken just two points from their last 11 and sit in 14th.  Paul Heckingbottom is a manager under threat and it seems unlikely he will be given even a summer to try and change the mess he inherited with Mick McCarthy a strong favourite to take charge.

At Elland Road, they have been quite strong this season winning nine of their 22 played losing just seven times and drawing six.  Their recent home form has seen them go three unbeaten and lose just two of their last seven.

Leeds have the ninth worst defensive record in the division and the 12th best attacking figures.  They could do with a consistent striker in the summer as only two players (Pierre Michel Lassoga and Kemar Roofe) have reached double-figures and both have ten.

Leeds United Team News

Laurens De Bock (hamstring), Tyler Roberts (shin), Conor Shaughnessy and Luke Ayling (both ankle) are doubts.  Gaetano Beradi will miss out through suspension.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

It has been a mixed end to the season for the Rs with four victories, one draw and one defeat in their last nine.  Owner Tony Fernandes came out at the weekend to admit he has still not decided if Ian Holloway will be staying on for next season.

Away from Loftus Road, they have struggled with only Bolton (one) winning a lower number of games on the road.  They have lost each of their last three on their travels and six of their last eight.

The 58 goals they have scored this season gives them the 11th best attacking record in the division while they have the joint-sixth weakest defensive record.  Matt Smith is their only player this season to have reached double-figures with his 11 goals.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Massimo Luongo (personal), Jack Robinson (illness), Matt Ingram (concussion), David Wheeler (ankle), Grant Hall (knee) and Joel Lynch (hamstring) are all unlikely to feature.
