Leeds United vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides in the top five of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Leeds will look to bounce back after suffering their first league loss of the season last time out going down 1-0 to Millwall. In the League Cup, they were away to Premier League Burnley and came through on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time thanks to goals from Hadi Sacko and Pablo Hernandez (penalty). Ipswich have had a week off after going out of the League Cup so the last time they played was last Saturday. They won that game 2-0 at home to Bolton thanks to a goal each from Cole Skuse and David McGoldrick. The Yorkshire outfit saw the better of their two meetings last season taking four points from this pair of games. The game at Portman Road ended 1-1 while the match at Elland Road finished 1-0 to Leeds.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leeds are the obvious favourites to win the game but the prices on offer do not offer much value. I like the look of United in the half-time/full-time market as 61% of the goals they have scored have come in the opening 45 minutes. No away side has found the back of the net at Elland Road this season so I think taking Leeds to keep a clean-sheet looks worth an interest also.

Leeds United Preview

United sit top of the top on equal points with Cardiff and Wolves but six goals better off in goal difference. Defeat last time out will have come as a blow but they should take great heart from their start which has seen them win five, draw two and lose just once. At home, it is two victories and two draws from their first four games with the wins coming in their last two. They have found the back of the net seven times at Elland Road while not conceding once. Kalvin Phillips is their leading league goal scorer this season with three goals though two of these came in the one game. Around 61% of the goals they have scored have come in the first-half though just 7% of them in the opening 15 minutes.

Leeds United Team News

They have no registered injuries or suspensions.

Ipswich Town Preview

It has been a strong start to the season for Ipswich who sit in fifth place with 15 points from seven games. They have lost two of their last three in the league though bounced back to winning ways by defeating Bolton last weekend. On the road, they have taken six points from a possible nine with victories at Millwall and Barnsley and a defeat at QPR. All three of these away visits have seen both teams net and over 2.5 goals. Martyn Waghorn is their leading league scorer with four goals in this campaign though he has not netted in the last three. Around 75% of their goals have come in the second-half with 41% in the 15 minutes after half-time.

Ipswich Town Team News

Jonas Knudsen (hamstring) is listed day-to-day while Emyr Huws (Achilles) is still a concern.
