Leeds United vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides on the outside of the play-offs looking to break into the top six. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Leeds made it back-to-back draws in midweek as they battled out a 2-2 tie with Derby on Wednesday evening. They twice went ahead through Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Egzijan Alioski before being pegged back. Brentford ran rampant in their last game as they hit five without reply against Birmingham on Tuesday night. Ollie Watkins grabbed a brace for the Bees while Neal Maupay, Florian Jozefzoon weighed in with one each and an own-goal completed the scoring. The reverse fixture came early in November at Griffin Park in a game that the Bees came out on top 3-1. Neal Maupay, Yoann Barbet and Ryan Woods grabbed one each while Egzijan Alioski grabbed a consolation for the Yorkshire outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Brentford are playing well but should they really be favourites to win at a Leeds side they only have four more points than even allowing for the fact that the Yorkshire side are struggling for form. I want to be siding with United in some way and backing them to score over 1.5 goals looks the most sensible way to do this as this allows a cover if Brentford do the same which they are most capable of doing. Leeds netted two against a strong Derby defence in midweek and prior to that against another strong side in Bristol City. Pierre-Michel Lassoga is the man in form and I could not put anyone off backing him to score but at bigger prices I will take an anytime scorer interest on Egzijan Alioksi. The Macedonian netted in the reverse fixture and in midweek and he gets the vote here.

Leeds United Preview

The Whites have drawn their last two though it is nine league games without a victory now. They have dropped out of the play-off race following this run and now face three matches against teams in the top ten. At Elland Road, it is no victory in their last four with draws against Forest and Bristol City and defeats to Millwall and Cardiff. Their last three at their own ground have been crackers producing a total of 16 goals only six of which have been scored by United. Each of the last four Leeds have played have seen both teams find the back of the net and gone over 2.5 goals. Pierre-Michel Lasogga is coming back to form and has netted once in each of his last three.

Leeds United Team News

Conor Shaughnessy (unknown) and Tyler Roberts (shin) are doubts while Luke Ayling (ankle) is a long-term absentee.

Brentford Preview

The Bees have now won back-to-back Championship games and are unbeaten in their last three fixtures. They are in the top half just outside the play-offs and have three of their next four on the road. Away from Griffin Park, they have won three of their last five with the two defeats coming at Derby and Wolves. Each of their last four on their travels has seen one team fail to find the back of the net. Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay both have two in their last two while Florian Jozefzoon has two in his last three. 64% of the goals Brentford have scored in the league this season have come in the second-half.

Brentford Team News

Rico Henry (cruciate) is a long-term absentee while Josh McEachran (unknown) is a doubt. Sergi Canos will return from suspension.
