Leeds United vs Birmingham City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture sees the league leaders hosting a struggling Birmingham side.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Leeds got back to winning ways with a 3-0 defeat of Preston thanks to a Tyler Roberts brace while Liam Cooper also grabbed one.  The result was a fair reflection of a game that United dominated and looked back to their best.

Birmingham picked up their fourth successive draw as they battled out a goalless draw at Sheffield United. The Blues in fact can consider themselves unlucky as they were the stronger side.

The two meetings between these sides last season were won by the home side with ending 1-0 in the Midlands and 2-0 in Yorkshire.  Jacques Maghoma has a good record in these matches netting three in the last six.

.Betting Tips and Predictions

I was hoping at first that bookmakers would go to high on Leeds and under-estimate a difficult to beat Birmingham side they have though covered this and the prices look spot on and as such I would be looking away from the full-time result for my bet.

The hosts are going to have be patient here against a side who will prove difficult to break down but show limited attacking impetus.  Back the game to have no early goal which is set at 29:00 and no Leeds goal to be scored before 43:00.

NO goal before 29:00

NO Leeds goal before 43:00

Leeds United Preview

United remain the only unbeaten team in the Championship from the first eight matches with five victories and three draws.  They are top of the table while the expected goals data has them in fifth,

At Elland Road, they have won three and drawn one from their opening four league encounters.  They have netted eight times in total in these fixtures while conceding just on just one occasion.

Five of the eight Leeds have played this season have gone over 2.5 goals though just one of their last three.  Four of the eight the Yorkshire outfit have been involved have seen both teams score though just two of the last six.

Leeds United Team News

Patrick Bamford has been ruled out for three months with a knee injury. Kemar Roofe (calf), Pablo Hernandez (hamstring), Jamie Shackleton (ankle) and Gaetano Beradi (knee) are doubts.

Birmingham City Preview

The Blues have drawn a remarkable six of eight this season and are one of two seasons in the division still seeking a first victory.  They are down in 20th but the expected goals data has them as high as eight.

Away from St Andrew’s, they are without a win in four losing their first two and drawing their latest two.  A lack of road goals has been an issue for the Midlands outfit blanking in three of four and netting just two.

Six of the eight Birmingham have played have gone under 2.5 goals and they average a league low 1.5 goals per fixture.  Just two of their last seven and three of eight for the season have seen both teams net.

Birmingham City Team News

Craig Gardner (knock) is a doubt while David Davis (ankle) and Isaac Vassell (thigh) are long-term absentees
