Lazio vs Sampdoria Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Lazio will be aiming to continue their push for a European place when they welcome Sampdoria to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon. Lazio managed a comfortable 1-3 victory on the road at Roma last weekend thanks to a brace from Balde Keita and another goal from Dusan Basta. On the other hand, Sampdoria only managed a 1-1 away draw against Torino last time out despite the fact that Patrik Schick gave them the lead in the 12th minute. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Lazio have been a tough nut to crack on home soil throughout the season, losing just four of their 17 home league games. In addition, Lazio are undefeated in their last eleven home meetings with Sampdoria across all competitions, conceding just four goals in this term. Sampdoria are without two of their most prolific players in front of goal this season, but I’m still backing them to get on the scoresheet here.

Lazio Preview

Lazio’s form over the past three months has been near impeccable, as they have only lost two of their last 15 games across all competitions. The Biancocelesti come into this clash on the back of a three-game unbeaten streak in the Serie A, including an impressive 1-3 victory on the road against their city rivals Roma last weekend. Furthermore, Lazio have scored at least 2 goals in each of their last three league outings. The Biancocelesti currently sit in 4th position in the league table with 67 points to their name after 34 rounds, just three points clear of the 5th-placed Atalanta. Furthermore, Lazio are also involved in the Coppa Italia as they will face Juventus in the final stage of the competition next month. The Aquile have been scoring goals for fun throughout the season as they hold one of the best attacking records in the division with 63 goals under their belt after 34 league games. Ciro Immobile is the team’s topscorer with 20 goals under his belt, while Balde Keita has helped the team with 13 goals and two assists in his 28 league appearances. On home soil, the Biancocelesti have only lost three of their last 15 home fixtures across all competitions while winning eleven in the process.

Lazio Team News

Jordan Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij are both doubts, but Federico Marchetti is still out through injury. In addition, Marco Parolo is missing through suspension.

Sampdoria Preview

On the contrary, Sampdoria’s recent form in the Serie A has been awful as they have only won once in their last six league outings. The Blucerchiati enter the fray on the back of a four-game winless streak in the Serie A, conceding two goals in three of these. This leaves Samp in 10th spot in the league table with 46 points under their belts after 34 rounds, already 21 points clear of the relegation zone. Scoring goals has been Lazio’s main issue throughout the season as they hold one of the worst attacking records in the division with just 42 goals scored in 34 league games. Patrik Schick and Luis Muriel have been Sampdoria’s most dangerous players in front of goal so far this season, as the pair bagged 21 goals and seven assists between them. Fabio Quagliarella has also played a vital part in Sampdoria’s performance throughout this Serie A campaign, helping the team with eight goals and three assists in his 34 league appearances. Samp have enjoyed a decent run of form on the road recently, having lost just once in their last six league trips. The bad news is that Sampdoria are winless in their last eleven visits to the Stadio Olimpico, scoring just four goals in the process.
