Las Palmas vs Villarreal Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Las Palmas edged closer towards relegation after losing 2-1 against Celta de Vigo in the latest league game. Paco Jemez saw his team open the scoring just after the break through Erik Exposito. The joy was short-lived, as Johnny Castro equalised in the 62nd minute. Celta placed intense pressure and ultimately broke the hearts of Las Palmas with an 89th minute goal from Pablo Hernandez. Villarreal fell to a second consecutive loss, as Girona picked up a 2-0 win at the La Ceramica. Christian Stuani came up with an opening goal after just 16 minutes, while the win was confirmed by Antony Lozano’s late goal.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The recent performances of Las Palmas have been quite good with the team getting some impressive results – like the draw with Barcelona and win over Valencia. Most of the good results for Las Palmas have been at home. This places a lot of pressure upon Villarreal, who have been poor in several areas of the pitch. Las Palmas are without a victory for more than a month, but there are signs of the run coming to a conclusion. I expect this game to end this wait for a Las Palmas win. Villarreal have recently struggled quite badly when it comes to scoring goals. The strike from Enes Unal against Getafe is the only goal for Villarreal in the last four games across all competitions. Las Palmas have been quite difficult to beat in recent weeks, as the likes of Barcelona have learnt. I would back Villarreal to score under 1.5 goals.

Las Palmas Preview

Las Palmas may not be giving up hope on survival even after the loss against Celta de Vigo, as the club are only one point behind Levante. This La Liga 2017-18 season will witness only four teams competing to avoid the relegation places. Las Palmas have had some decent performances of late, but a winless run that now stretches to five games has let down Las Palmas. The winless run makes for a worse reading in terms of away games, as Las Palmas are winless in 12 away games.

Las Palmas Team News

Pedro Bigas (knee), Dani Castellano (muscle), and Jairo Samperio (muscle) are unavailable due to injuries, while Alberto Aquilani is suspended for the game.

Villarreal Preview

The Yellow Submarines are in danger of dropping out of the top six places by the end of this weekend, as they have been slowly taken out of the Europa League equation by the likes of Girona and Celta de Vigo. Javier Calleja has been unable to arrest a long set of disappointing results, and the home defeat against Girona is the latest disappointment for the club. At this rate, their slender one-point advantage over teams outside the top six will not last for long. The departure of Cedric Bakambu is still the major reason behind Villarreal’s troubles.

Villarreal Team News

Nicola Sansone (calf), Bruno Soriano (leg), Andres Fernandez (cruciate ligament), Ramiro Guerra (knee), Ruben Semedo (thigh), and Leonardo Suarez (cruciate ligament) are the injured players for Villarreal, while Mario Gasper is suspended.
