Las Palmas vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Las Palmas were at the receiving end of a huge 6-0 thrashing, as they lost against Girona during the weekend. The first-half witnessed a reasonable score with Girona ahead through a penalty from Christian Stuani. In the second half, however, there were goals from Borja Garcia, Portu, and Michael Olunga to create a huge win for Girona. Valencia stayed in touch with the top two after a 2-1 win over Deportivo La Coruna. A goalkeeper error allowed Goncalo Guedes to score in the first half, while Rodrigo’s deflected effort doubled Valencia’s lead in the 64th minute. A late header from Florin Andone failed to get anything for La Coruna.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Valencia have strengthened the squad with the £12 million signing of Francis Coquelin from Arsenal. He is expected to provide better defensive qualities for a team with just one clean sheet in the last five competitive matches. Las Palmas have been extremely poor with 10 goals conceded in the last two games. Even at home, Las Palmas have been quite poor in recent weeks and I would choose a win for Valencia.

The recent troubles for Las Palmas are down to a defence that has shipped plenty of goals, but this Valencia outfit has been unable to score more than 2.5 goals in the last eight La Liga outings. Even though the recent game between these two teams ended as a 4-0 win for Valencia, a reasonable amount of value is available in backing Valencia to score more than 1.5 goals.

Las Palmas Preview

Las Palmas have every reason to be concerned about their recent form, as the club has been slipping from one heavy defeat to another. After the 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Valencia in the Copa del Rey, the 6-0 defeat against newly promoted Girona means that Las Palmas have hit the lowest point of the 2017-18 La Liga campaign. Paco Jemez is the latest manager to take charge of Las Palmas, but he will be least pleased with the heavy defeats that have come his way. The club have been quite active in the transfer market by bringing in the likes of Alejandro Galvez and Jairo Samperio. Loic Remy leads the scoring charts at the club with five goals.

Las Palmas Team News

Sergi Samper (ankle), Michel Macedo (leg), and Pedro Bigas (ankle) are the names unavailable for Las Palmas.

Valencia Preview

Valencia have been able to get back on track with three consecutive wins in all competitions. The team showed signs of wobble after losing three consecutive matches towards the end of 2017. It was important for Valencia to recover quickly and they have been able to stay just two points behind Atletico Madrid. The title may be beyond Valencia’s reach with Barcelona opening up 11-point advantage in recent weeks. Crucially, the eight-point advantage over Real Madrid may be quite hard to lose – if Valencia extended this current form. Simone Zaza is the leading scorer at the club with 10 league goals.

Valencia Team News

Javier Jimenez (cruciate ligament) is the only player on the sidelines for Valencia manager Marcelino.
