Las Palmas vs Malaga Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Las Palmas head into this six-pointer after a 3-0 loss against Atletico Madrid. After managing to keep out the home team in the first half, Las Palmas conceded through Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres, and Thomas Partey in the second half. Malaga managed to avoid a defeat for a second consecutive La Liga match, as they were involved in a goalless draw with Girona. However, this disappointing result extends the club’s winless run to 6 matches.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Las Palmas have had a decent home record after suffering just one defeat in the last five matches at the Gran Canaria. Malaga are without a win in six games, while they have also lost three out of the last five away games. Malaga also have struggled in the head-to-head meetings with Las Palmas after managing just two wins in five. Despite having made significant changes to the squad, I would choose a victory for Las Palmas in this game. Malaga and Las Palmas have been amongst the poor scorers this season. Especially in the last six matches, Malaga have only managed one goal while Las Palmas have fared slightly better with five goals. I would go with under 2.5 goals in the match.

Las Palmas Preview

Las Palmas have been quite active in the January window by bringing in the likes of Gabriel Penalba, Alejandro Galvez, and Emmanuel Emenike. At the same time, Mauricio Lemos and Loic Remy are the major departures from the club. Las Palmas have been down in the bottom three of the table for most of the campaign. However, the club are now staring at the possibility of being cut off from the safety positions. Las Palmas have the worst defence by a significant margin after conceding 50 goals, while they have only come up with 16 goals in response. Loic Remy, who is now on loan at Getafe, and Jonathan Calleri are the top scorers with five goals each.

Las Palmas Team News

Momo (calf) is the only player unavailable due to injury.

Malaga Preview

Malaga appear increasingly likely to go down from the La Liga, as the team has been unable to make the most out of the home matches. Winless in the last six La Liga games, Malaga find themselves already six points behind Levante in the final position of safety. After having managed only three wins in the first 21 matches of the season, it looks highly unlikely that Malaga will pull themselves together to catch the rest of the table in the remaining 17 matches. José Manuel Gonzalez has been able to bring in the likes of Brown Ideye, Isaac Success, and Alberto Bueno in the January window – most of the arrivals have been on a loan deal. Gonzalo Castro and Diego Rolan lead the scoring charts at Malaga with three goals each.

Malaga Team News

Chori Castro is the player suspended for this game, while Juan Carlos (cruciate ligament), Federico Ricca (hamstring), Adalberto Penaranda (hamstring), and Diego Gonzalez Polanco (knee) are unavailable due to injury.
