Las Palmas vs Leganes Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Las Palmas were unable to extend their winning run, as they lost 1-0 against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Jesus Navas scored with seven minutes of normal time left to crush Las Palmas hopes, after the away team had come extremely close to securing an away point. Leganes were unable to beat Girona at home, as the game finished as a goalless draw. Both teams had reasonable set of chances in the 90 minutes to be able to get a victory, but the goal to break the deadlock never arrived. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Leganes’ last away victory against Las Palmas was in 2003, although both these teams have faced each other on very few occasions since then. A major advantage for Las Palmas happens to be home advantage. Even though the club have suffered a heavy loss against Atletico Madrid, the team are generally strong at the Gran Canaria. Leganes may have already secured an away win over Espanyol, but the club generally tend to struggle on the road. After the recent draw with Girona, the lack of goalscoring thrust is likely to result in this game ending as a win for Las Palmas. Loic Remy did not feature against Sevilla, but he is expected to start the match against Leganes. The Frenchman is a striker who does not need many chances to score, and this game would be a perfect fit for him to score his third goal of his Las Palmas career. I would back Remy to score anytime in the game.

Las Palmas Preview

Las Palmas can be relatively happy with their recent performances after recovering substantially from a poor start to the La Liga 2017-18 campaign. Back-to-back losses against Valencia and Atletico Madrid were certainly not out of their expectation, but Las Palmas would have hoped to avoid a 6-1 aggregate loss in both these matches. The last three games has seen substantial improvement from the team – in terms of results. Three wins and almost a draw against Sevilla see Manolo Marquez’ team aiming for a place in the top 10 of the early table. A key factor behind the club’s success going forward could be Loic Remy, who has already scored two goals since coming from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

Las Palmas Team News

Victor Perez Vitolo (thigh), Sergei Samper (calf), Dani Castellano (thigh), Alen Halilovic (ankle), and Pedro Bigas (knee) are the players available for Las Palmas.

Leganes Preview

Asier Garitano saw his Leganes team make a surprise start to the domestic campaign with back-to-back wins in the opening two matches. More importantly, the club did not concede a goal in both these games. However, the momentum built from the opening day victories seem to have been evaporated by the international break. Since the World Cup qualifiers interrupted the campaign, Leganes have taken just one point in three matches. Yet, Garitano will be reasonably pleased to see his team still strong at the back after conceding just one goal in the last two games.

Leganes Team News

Jon Serantes (shoulder), Julian Ramos Omar (thigh), Nabil El Zhar (hip), and Ezequiel Munoz (back) are the players missing for Leganes.
