Kilmarnock vs Motherwell Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Kilmarnock picked up a comeback point against Ross County after a 2-2 draw. Steve Clarke’s men made a disappointing start to the game with Christopher Routis and Jason Naismith scoring in the first half. However, a second-half comeback was completed through goals from Eamonn Brophy and Kris Boyd. Motherwell’s poor form stretched to a third consecutive loss after a 3-2 defeat against Partick Thistle. The home team established a 3-0 lead following goals from Blair Spittal, Ryan Edwards, and Conor Sammon. Motherwell did try to spark a comeback with goals from Ryan Bowman and Craig Tanner, but a fairy-tale comeback was not to be completed. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The Kilmarnock team only recently picked up a first home win of the campaign. Motherwell have the potential to help Kilmarnock enhance this record, as their form has been poor over the last few weeks. Even though Kilmarnock’s home record is rather poor, they have the potential to take advantage of Motherwell losing four out of the last five away matches. Motherwell’s only away victory in this period was against Aberdeen when they were hit by concerns about the future of the Derek McInnes. I would back a victory for Kilmarnock. Kilmarnock have found a sweet scoring spot after coming up with 10 goals in the last four league matches. They are up against a Motherwell outfit that has conceded 12 goals in the last five away matches. Three out of the last five meetings between these two teams have been a high-scoring fixture. I would back over 2.5 goals in this game.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock may have managed only two wins in the last five matches, but there are every signs of the club making their way further up the table if the performances persist. Steve Clarke took over the club when they were struggling near the bottom of the table, but Kilmarnock are now closer to the top six with only four points separating them from Motherwell. The away performances have been especially inspiring, while Kilmarnock recently picked up the first home win of the season – an impressive 5-1 success over Partick Thistle. Kris Boyd leads the scoring charts at Kilmarnock with six goals in 15.

Kilmarnock Team News

Manager Steve Clarke will be without Iain Wilson (knee), Steven Smith (back), and Greg Kiltie (knee) due to injuries.

Motherwell Preview

Motherwell are closer to dropping out of the top six places if their results do not improve in the next few weeks. Such has been the disastrous run of form for Motherwell, who were in the fourth position towards the end of October. Now, the club are having serious troubles with regard to putting together a string of positive results. Over the last six matches, Motherwell have conceded 13 goals – more than any other team in the division. Even the relegation threatened Partick Thistle have conceded one fewer than Motherwell in this period. Even though the club have been scoring at a decent pace, the team has been unable to cope up with the leaky defence. The injury to Louis Moult is also a source of concern for manager Steve Robinson.

Motherwell Team News

Louis Moult is still struggling with the knee injury ahead of this match.
