Kilmarnock vs Hibernian Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Kilmarnock made it four consecutive wins after a 1-0 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park. The hosts had the better of opportunities, but defender Stephen O'Donnell came up with the decisive goal of the game in the 34th minute by capitalising on an erroneous pass from striker Curtis Main. Hibernian beat Aberdeen 2-0 at the Easter Road stadium to make it three consecutive wins for Neil Lennon’s team. Martin Boyle headed into an empty net to provide Hibernian a lead just after half-time, while Florian Kamberi was able to double the advantage in the 60th minute.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This is a meeting between two teams on excellent form in recent weeks. The crucial factor will be the home advantage, as Kilmarnock have been able to get five straight victories at the Rugby Park. Even though Hibernian have done well on the road this season with a 50% success rate from their 14 matches, they are at a disadvantage coming into this game – even after winning four out of the last five trips to the Rugby Park. I would back a win for Kilmarnock. Hibernian have found it difficult to score on the road in recent times, as the team has been unable to score in three out of the last five. Despite Kilmarnock being involved in some low scoring matches, the team has largely had a higher tally of goals whenever they have hosted Hibs at the Rugby Park. I see value in picking over 2.5 goals in this game.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock continue to be the pacesetters in the SPL over the last six matches. They have taken the same number of points as Rangers and Hibernian during this period and it is two more than table leaders Celtic. Clarke will be keen on sustaining this form, as it could push Kilmarnock into a top four contention. Kilmarnock have already jumped into the top six places following the win over Motherwell and the club have now set their sights on catching Hearts, who are three points ahead. Kris Boyd did not score against Motherwell but he leads the charts at Kilmarnock with 11 goals in 21 games.

Kilmarnock Team News

Manager Steve Clarke will be without Steven Smith (back) and Alan Power (knee) due to injuries.

Hibernian Preview

The recent run of form has put Hibernian at the top of the pile – alongside Kilmarnock and Rangers – in terms of the most points acquired over the last six matches. As a result, Hibernian have been able to move within five points off Aberdeen after 27 matches. If results go as expected, Lennon could see his team in the top three places – or even in the Champions League qualification places. Hibernian have experienced poor patches of form this season, but they have come back strongly on each occasion. Anthony Stokes still sits at the top of the Hibernian’s scoring charts, but John McGinn is the current player to top the charts with five goals in 26 games.

Hibernian Team News

David Gray (Achilles tendon) and Ross Laidlaw (fracture) are the names unavailable for Hibernian manager Neil Lennon.
