Kilmarnock vs Hearts Match Prediction

Kilmarnock vs Hearts Predictions, Betting Tips, and Preview

Kilmarnock suffered an opening day defeat just like in the 2016-17 SPL campaign, as the team suffered a 2-1 loss to St Johnstone. David Wotherspoon’s opening goal was cancelled out by Kris Boyd’s brilliant free kick. However, Michael O'Halloran came up with a splendid solo goal in the 89th minute to secure three points for the away team. Hearts suffered a heavy defeat in the opening game of the season, as they lost 4-1 against Celtic. A brace from Leigh Griffiths and goals from Scott Sinclair and Callum McGregor confirmed the dominance of Celtic, while Esmael Goncalves was able to score a late goal for Hearts. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Both teams come into the game with contrasting fortunes, as Kilmarnock have a poor home record while Hearts are poor on the road. Three of the last six meetings between the two clubs have finished as a draw. Despite being the home team, it is tough to back Kilmarnock for the game, as they have managed one win in the last five games against Hearts. I would go with a draw, which offers plenty of value. Kris Boyd enjoys scoring against Hearts, as he has scored 13 goals against this opponent. He remains the biggest goalscoring threat for Kilmarnock. Even though he has not scored against Hearts since the 13/14 season, Boyd is certainly due a goal. I would opt for

Boyd to score anytime at 21/10.

Kilmarnock Preview

The season may have begun with back-to-back defeats in all competitions, but Kilmarnock manager Lee McCulloch may be disappointed with the inability to take something out of the first game of the season. The team played reasonably well and were unlucky to come away with a defeat – courtesy of a late goal. The midweek 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Celtic will be much more damaging to the club’s morale. McCulloch, though, will be targeting a positive run as the club prepare for a run of three consecutive games at the Rugby Park. Last season, the club had the fewest home wins of any team in the Scottish Premier League. The club’s top scorer last season, Kris Boyd, is off the mark in the first game of the season.

Kilmarnock Team News

McCulloch will be without Steven Smith (knee), Gary Dicker (knee), and Greg Kiltie (knee) due to injury.

Hearts Preview

Sacking manager Ian Cathro did not make much of a difference in the opening game of the season, but there may be more difficulties in store for Hearts. The club still have three more away games before fans get to witness the team at the Tynecastle stadium for the first time in the SPL 17/18 season. Hearts had the fourth best home record last season after picking up nine wins from the 19 games. Their major problem was away games after only managing three away victories all season long. Goncalves managed seven goals last season after coming in as a January signing. He is now off the mark.

Hearts Team News

There are no injuries or suspensions for interim manager Jon Daly.
