Kilmarnock vs Hamilton Academical Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Kilmarnock made it three consecutive league wins after beating Rangers 1-0 at Ibrox. Kris Boyd continues to grow strong even at 34 years of age and the forward scored the game’s only goal in the 54th minute. Hamilton are winless in two after a 1-0 loss to St Johnstone. Hamilton were always expecting a tough match, but the hosts are only able to get a slender win thanks to a fifth-minute own goal from Scott McMann.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Kilmarnock have been in such good form that it is difficult to look beyond Steve Clarke’s men for a victory in this game. Hamilton have picked up just one win in the last six meetings with Kilmarnock. Surprisingly, this victory came at Rugby Park. Kilmarnock do not boast of an incredible record against Hamilton after only picking up one win in the last five meetings, but recent form is in huge favour of the home team. After having seen Kilmarnock remain in a winning position at half-time and full-time three out of the last six matches, I would back the same in this match.

Kris Boyd simply cannot stop scoring and the 34-year-old now has 18 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions. The veteran has failed to score the twice in the last seven appearances. Even though he has not scored against Hamilton in two years, I would back Boyd to score anytime – largely due to recent form.

Kilmarnock win at half-time and full-time – 8/5

Kris Boyd to score anytime – 21/20

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock continue in hot pursuit of Hibernian for the fourth place. This would be an apt reward for the club’s incredible form since the arrival of Steve Clarke in October. The former West Brom manager has transformed the fortunes of Kilmarnock, who are struggling for results earlier in the campaign. This poor start to the season has been one of the chief factors behind Kilmarnock still remaining outside the top four places. Yet, the jump made by the Killie is quite remarkable since the team were even occupying the bottom of the table in the first few months. Kris Boyd’s form has been a tremendous factor behind the club’s revival. Few would have expected the 34-year-old to chip in with 15 league goals this season.

Kilmarnock Team News

Steve Clarke will be without Steven Smith due to a back injury.

Hamilton Academical Preview

Hamilton are looking set for a mediocre finish to the campaign, as the club have little worry about relegation for the time being. Furthermore, they will not be able to make it to the top six. The five point advantage over Partick Thistle, who occupy the final relegation play-off spot, has the potential to provide some breathing space for Hamilton, who still have a couple of matches in hand over many of the SPL teams this season. Yet, all of the remaining four matches though they are extremely tough for Hamilton, as they are all against the top five teams. David Templeton and Dougie Imrie are the top scorers at the club six goals each.

Hamilton Academical Team News

Hamilton will be without Alistair Crawford (knee), Darren Jamieson (jaw), and Alex Gogic (knee) due to injuries.
