Kilmarnock vs Celtic Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Kilmarnock come on the back of a first defeat in eight games, as Steve Clarke’s men fell to a 3-1 loss against Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium. Kris Boyd provided Kilmarnock with the lead, but the home team were able to come back in impressive fashion with goals from Adam Rooney, Scott McKenna, and Nial McGinn. Kilmarnock did not have any midweek action, while their opponents Celtic were involved in a 3-1 win over Hearts. Odsonne Edouard blitzed past a static Hearts defence to score the opener after just three minutes. Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele scored further goals to put Celtic in a strong position. Kyle Lafferty capitalized on a defensive error to take away the clean sheet from Brendan Rodgers’ team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Kilmarnock were able to take points off Celtic in the recent meeting back in October. Yet, Celtic come into this game with a strong surge of form while Kilmarnock have had extended days off due postponements of matches. Celtic have been able to win at half-time and full-time in five out of the recent seven SPL matches. Kilmarnock’s overall form has been excellent in the last couple of months, but I would choose a Celtic win at half-time and full-time.

Celtic failed to get Trevor Carson on the transfer deadline day. Celtic’s back four has not been the strongest in recent matches and have conceded some silly goals. Meanwhile, Kilmarnock have been able to score in each of the last nine games in all competitions. The form of Kris Boyd makes this game likely to witness goals at both ends.

Celtic win at half-time and full-time – 8/11

Both teams to score – 6/5

Kilmarnock saw over 1.5 goals in 7 out of their last 10 games played

Celtic have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 10 games against Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock have gone through an excellent run of late, and it is highly unlikely that the club will let the defeat against Aberdeen eliminate the confidence built up by this recent form. Steve Clarke may see his team outside the top six coming into this match, but Kilmarnock have at least three matches over clubs near them in the table. Kilmarnock’s recent form is happily demonstrated by the return of 12 goals – more than any other team, including Celtic – over the last six matches. Veteran Kris Boyd leads the scoring charts with 10 goals in 19 games.

Kilmarnock Team News

There are no injury or suspension worries for Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke ahead of this match.

Celtic Preview

Even though Celtic have been hit by some crucial injuries, manager Brendan Rodgers has been able to keep the results ticking along well. The efforts to sign Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson have come up short, and Rodgers will have to come up with a quick solution for the current goalkeeper crisis. The injury to Craig Gordon has left Celtic extremely vulnerable at the back but the team still has a comfortable 11-point advantage over Aberdeen and Rangers. The transfer window has been relatively successful for Celtic, as they managed to keep Mousa Dembele while also bringing in highly-rated Charly Musonda on loan from Chelsea. Scott Sinclair is still the club’s top scorer with eight league goals.

Celtic Team News

Stuart Armstrong (knee), Marvin Compper (calf), Leigh Griffiths (calf), Craig Gordon (knee), and Johnny Hayes (tibia fracture) are the players unavailable for Celtic.
