Kilmarnock vs Aberdeen Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Kilmarnock were able to achieve a goalless draw with Dundee during the weekend. This was a positive result as it meant yet another point from an away match, but manager Steve Clarke may be disappointed that his team failed to convert a couple of excellent chances towards the end of the game. Aberdeen slipped to another home defeat as Motherwell were able to get a 2-0 win at the Pittodrie Stadium. Louis Moult scored the side of the break to provide management with a decisive lead and Aberdeen rarely threatened in the match.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Aberdeen have an outstanding record at the Rugby Park with six consecutive wins. Kilmarnock’s last victory over Aberdeen was in 2012. Surprisingly, Steve Clarke’s only loss as a Kilmarnock manager was at the Rugby Park – in the loss against Hibernian. Aberdeen’s troubles have largely been at home in recent weeks, as the club has picked up two wins in the last three away games. I would go with a victory for Aberdeen. Kilmarnock will hope to be defensively solid in this game, but their home record against Aberdeen has been rather poor with 14 goals conceded in the last five meetings at Rugby Park. Only one of these games has produced less than 2.5 goals. I would go with a game with more than 2.5 goals.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock have been solid on a number of aspects since the arrival of Steve Clarke. The former West Brom manager may not make Kilmarnock as one of the league’s top attacking teams but he already appears to be getting the message across in terms of being hard to beat. The team has lost only once since he came to the club. In this period, they have been able to pick up wins over Hearts and have also managed draws against Celtic. Yet, the club still remain close to the bottom place of the table while the top six places are six points ahead. Kris Boyd is the leading scorer at the club with three goals in 11 games.

Kilmarnock Team News

Manager Steve Clarke has a fully fit squad for this game.

Aberdeen Preview

Aberdeen continue to be badly affected by the speculation surrounding Derek McInnes. The possibility of the manager, who has been at Aberdeen since 2013, leaving the club still remains a possibility, although it appears that Rangers have shifted their attention elsewhere. One of the few positives for Aberdeen in a run of one victory in the last four league matches is that teams around them have not been able to take advantage. Hibernian are two points behind in the table and have played a game more. Aberdeen’s task of returning to form does not get easier with four away games in the next five league matches. Adam Rooney is the top scorer with four goals in 11 matches.

Aberdeen Team News

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has a fully fit squad available for the match.
