Juventus vs Olympiacos Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Juventus will look for their first victory of their Champions League group D when they welcome Olympiakos Piraeus at the Allianz Stadium on Wednesday night. Juventus suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat on the road at Barcelona in their group opener, despite the fact they had more goalscoring opportunities and shots on target than the hosts. Olympiakos Piraeus, on the other hand, lost 2-3 at home at the hands of Sporting Lisbon a fortnight ago, with Felipe Pardo scoring a brace in the last four minutes of the game. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

I’m confident that Juventus will grab their first points of the current Champions League campaign here, as Olympiakos’ recent form has been terrible. Juventus have won their last four home games in the Serie A without conceding a single goal, while overall they have kept a clean sheet in six of their last nine home games across all competitions. Juve have picked up wins in each of their three home meetings with Olympiakos in the Champions League, scoring twelve goals in the process.

Juventus Preview

Juventus had a 100% perfect start domestically, having picked up victories in each of the opening six games in the Serie A. However, the Old lady were unfortunate to lose 3-0 on the road at Barcelona in their Champions League group opener a fortnight ago, in a night in which Lionel Messi was at his mercurial best. This makes it two Champions League defeats in a row for Juve, including their last season’s final 4-1 loss at the hands of Real Madrid in Cardiff. Actually, Juve were on a twelve-game unbeaten streak in the Champions League prior to their defeat at the hands of Madrid. The good news is that Juve have a great opportunity to get back to grab their first group victory here, as they are currently on a 23-game unbeaten home run in UEFA competition. In addition, Juve’s recent home form has seen them win all of their four home league games this season, scoring eleven goals and conceding none in this term. Furthermore, the Bianconeri have won their three home meetings with Olympiakos Piraeus in the Champions League, scoring twelve goals in the process. Paulo Dybala has been in imperial shape in this early part of the Serie A season as he is currently leading the league’s goalscoring charts with ten goals in his six appearances.

Juventus Team News

Benedikt Howedes and Mattia De Sciglio are both missing through injury, but Marko Pjaca and Sami Khedira are both back in training.

Olympiacos Preview

Olympiakos Piraeus, on the other hand, opened this Champions League campaign with a 5-3 aggregate win over Partizan in the 3rd qualifying round and followed this up with another 3-1 aggregate victory over Rijeka in the play-off. The Greek side are now in the group stage of the competition for the 18th time. They were huge favourites ahead of their home meeting with Sporting a fortnight ago, but they conceded three first-half goals and were unable to come back in the game despite the fact that Felipe Pardo netted a brace in the last four minutes of the game. Away from home, Olympiakos have won four of their last six Champions League fixtures, but the bad news is they have suffered defeats in each of their three visits to the Allianz Stadium, conceding twelve goals in the process. Olympiakos’ recent form has been terrible as they have only won once in their last five games across all competitions. In addition, Olympiakos suffered a disappointing 3-2 defeat on the road at AEK Athens in the Greek Super League at the weekend. This leaves Olympiakos only in 4th spot in the Super League table, already five points behind the current leaders AEK Athens. Konstantinos Fortounis has been Olympiakos’ most dangerous player in front of goal throughout their domestic campaign, helping the team with three goals in his three league appearances.

Olympiacos Team News

Jagos Vukovic is out through a back injury, while Athanasios Androusos is a doubt.
