Ipswich Town vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom third of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Ipswich picked up their first victory of the season just before the international break with a 3-2 road win at Swansea. They won thanks to a goal each from Gwion Edwards, Trevor Chalobah and an own-goal to give them a three points that flattered them.

QPR stretched their unbeaten run to two with a 1-1 home draw against Derby in their previous match. Geoff Cameron got the goal to give them a point that was the least their performance deserved.

The Rs are unbeaten in their last four against the Tractor Boys including taking four points from their two meetings last season. Three of the last four and four of the last six head-to-heads have produced exactly three goals.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Five of six at Portman Road have finished all-square while the visitors have drawn three of their six on the road this season and as such backing the draw looks the best approach. Three of the last five Ipswich home games have ended 1-1 so a correct score play on that also appeals.

Ipswich Town Preview

The Tractor Boys have struggled this season with five defeats, six draws and just one victory which came just before the break. They must hope it marks a turning point as they sit in 23rd place with four of their next five against teams in the bottom eight.

At Portman Road, they have drawn five of six played with the other one ending in a defeat to Middlesbrough. These matches involving the Suffolk outfit at their own ground tend to be low-scoring and have produced just 12 goals in total.

Ipswich have scored just 11 times this campaign which is the fifth lowest in the division led by Gwion Edwards and his three. The defence has shipped 18 times and has kept a clean sheet on just one occasion.

Ipswich Town Team News

Myles Kenlock (ankle) is a doubt while Ellis Harrison (also ankle), Jon Walters (Achilles), Emyr Huws (knee) and Teddy Bishop (hamstring) are long-term absentees.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have struggled a little to start to the season with four victories, two draws and six defeats from their opening 12. They sit 18th in the Championship table and face just one top eight side in their next four so will hope to get a run of form together.

Away from Loftus Road, they have been solid if unspectacular winning two, drawing three and losing one. Only two sides (Rotherham and Preston) have shipped more than the 12 road goals the London outfit have conceded.

A joint low of just nine goals indicates where QPR are having problems and they have been dependent on Eberechi Eze who has three of these. The defence has conceded the joint-fourth highest 19 goals though seven of these came in one fixture.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jake Bidwell (shoulder) and Jordan Cousins (ankle) are doubts while Darnell Furlong (ligament) and Olamide Shodipo (thigh) are set to miss the next few months.
