Ipswich Town vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) Championship game from Portman Road features two sides who have had contrasting starts to the season. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Ipswich made it three victories from three games with a 4-3 victory over Millwall in midweek. They had a brace from Martyn Waghorn to thank as well as one each from Joe Garner and Jordan Spence. Brentford were on course for their first three points of the season but had to settle for just the one point after conceding a 98th minute equalizer from Bristol City. They were one down before Ollie Watkins and Neal Maupay put the Bees ahead though in the end they were undone.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I think Brentford are the stronger team despite the two starts that this pair have made. The statistics show that Ipswich are scoring at a level they cannot keep up while the Bees are surely expected have a turnaround in their results. Take the London side to claim all three points at generous odds. I also fully expect the game to have goals so take the Bees to win the game and the fixture to go over 2.5 goals.

Ipswich Town Preview

Three wins in three games has been a great start to the season for an Ipswich side that were expected to struggle this season. With Brentford, Fulham, QPR and Derby to come in the next few weeks this will be a strong test of that early-season form. At home, it is three victories from their last four in the league including an opening day defeat of Birmingham. Six of their last eight in the league at Portman Road have gone under 2.5 goals. The Suffolk side are just averaging the third lowest shots per game ratio in the game while having netted the joint highest amount of goals which suggests an unobtainable rate of scoring. Waghorn has three goals for the season and Garner two while Freddie Sears has yet to net but averages two shots per game

Ipswich Town Team News

Emyr Huws is a doubt with a calf injury.

Brentford Preview

It has been a disappointing start to the season with two defeats from their first two games and a draw in midweek. Dean Smith think his side have been a little unlucky and this could be the case though their defence needs work. On the road, it is now four without victory though before that they were unbeaten in the previous four. 11 of their last 12 away matches have seen both teams find the back of the net. Neal Maupay has netted twice this season while Jota is averaging a remarkable five shots on target per game while failing to net yet. The Bees have the second-best shots per game ratio in the Championship.

Brentford Team News

Lewis MacLeod is set to miss out with a cruciate ligament injury.
