Ingolstadt vs Freiburg Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Ingolstadt and Freiburg will square off at the Audi-Sportpark on Wednesday evening, with both teams looking to extend their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga. Ingolstadt managed an impressive 1-2 victory on the road against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, with Alfredo Morales and Almog Cohen scoring the goals for Maik Walpurgis’ team. On the flip side, Freiburg were held to a 1-1 away draw by Schalke 04, despite the fact that they had the lead through Florian Niederlechner. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Ingolstadt Preview

Ingolstadt have failed to win any of their ten opening league fixtures, but they have improved significantly over the past month. Maik Walpurgis’ boys have only lost once in their last five games in the Bundesliga and head into this clash off the back of two consecutive victories over RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. It has to be said that Ingolstadt were on a 14-game winless streak in all competitions prior to their 1-0 home victory over RB Leipzig. Ingolstadt looked very solid at the back during their recent run, conceding just 4 goals in their last five league games. They now sit in the first relegation spot in the Bundesliga table with 12 points to their name after 15 rounds, just one point behind safety. Ingolstadt looked short going forward throughout this Bundesliga campaign, as they hold the third joint worst offensive record in the division with just 13 goals scored in 15 league fixtures. Lukas Hinterseer and Dario Lezcano are Ingolstadt’s joint topscorers at the moment, scoring three goals each. Markus Suttner has also helped the team with one goal and three assists in his 13 appearances in the Bundesliga. Ingolstadt should feel confident ahead of this clash, as they have been in great shape of late and they also managed to pick up a 4-0 win over Freiburg in their sole home meeting.

Freiburg Preview

On the flip side, Freiburg have endured a mixed Bundesliga campaign so far, winning six, drawing twice and losing seven of their opening 15 league fixtures. However, Freiburg looked much better of late as they enter in this tie off the back of a three-game unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, registering two 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04 along with a narrow 1-0 home win over Darmstadt. They currently sit in 10th position in the Bundesliga table tied on 20 points with Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz 05, and just six points off the top six. Freiburg have struggled to keep the ball out of the net throughout this Bundesliga season as they have one of the most leakiest defences in the division, conceding 26 goals in 15 rounds. Their away form has also been a problem, as Freiburg have only won once in eight away games in the Bundesliga, and are currently on a three-game winless streak. The good news is that Freiburg managed to score at least once in seven of their eight away Bundesliga games so far this season. Nils Petersen and Maximilian Philipp have been Freiburg’s most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, as the pair have bagged 10 goals between them.

Ingolstadt Team News

Romain Bregerie and Moritz Hartmann are all doubts ahead of this game.

Freiburg Team News

Lucas Hufnagel, Nicolas Hofler and Marc-Oliver Kempf are all doubts, but Georg Niedermaier is out through a back injury. The good news is that Karim Guede is back in training following his knee injury.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides have enjoyed a decent run of form recently, but both looked short going forward. However, I’m still expecting to see goals at both ends of the field in this one as Ingolstadt scored at least once in five of their last six home games in all competitions, while Freiburg netted at least one goal in seven of their eight away Bundesliga games. I think that a 1-1 draw is a convenient result for both sides.
