Ingolstadt vs Borussia Moenchengladbach Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Ingolstadt will be looking to build on their recent victory in the Bundesliga when they welcome Borussia Moenchengladbach at the Audi-Sportpark on Sunday afternoon. Ingolstadt picked up a 0-2 victory on the road at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend thanks to goals from Romain Bregerie and Pascal Gross. On the contrary, Borussia Moenchengladbach lost 1-2 at home at the hands of RB Leipzig with Jannik Vestergaard scoring their consolation goal in the last ten minutes of the game, despite the fact that Thorgan Hazard missed a penalty kick just before half-time. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Ingolstadt are the worst home side in the Bundesliga, while Borussia Moenchengladbach are one of the weakest teams on the road. Although, Borussia Moenchengladbach come into this clash with renewed confidence following their incredible 2-4 victory over Fiorentina in their Europa League midweek tie. I’m backing Borussia Moenchengladbach to register at least one draw in this one, but I’m also expecting a low-scoring affair.

Ingolstadt Preview

Ingolstadt registered a 0-2 victory on the road at Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, but still find themselves in a precarious situation. The minnows are still second from the bottom in the Bundesliga table with 18 points to their name after 21 rounds, two points behind safety. Ingolstadt have lost three of their five league outings after the winter break and failed to score at least once in each of these defeats. Actually, scoring goals has been Ingolstadt’s biggest problem throughout this Bundesliga campaign, as they hold the second joint worst offensive record in the division with just 19 goals scored in 21 league fixtures. Lukas Hinterseer, Dario Lezcano and Almog Cohen have been Ingolstadt’s most prolific players in front of goal so far this season, scoring three goals each. Their recent home form has been a complete mixed bag with three defeats, two wins and two draws in their last seven home fixtures in the Bundesliga. The good news is that Ingolstadt picked up victories in each of their last two home meetings with Borussia Moenchengladbach across all competitions. Head-to-head, Ingolstadt were on a three-game winless streak prior to their 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.

Borussia Moenchengladbach Preview

On the flip side, Borussia Moenchengladbach suffered a narrow 1-2 home defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga last weekend, but they head into this clash with renewed confidence. Borussia Moenchengladbach fought back from two goals down to secure an impressive 2-4 victory on the road at Fiorentina in their Europa League midweek tie. This means that M’Gladbach qualified into the Europa League round of 16 where they will face the fellow Bundesliga opponents Schalke 04. Regarding their Bundesliga campaign, M’Gladbach have endured a mixed campaign this season and find themselves only in 11th position in the standings tied on 26 points with the 10th-placed Schalke 04. Similar to their Sunday’s opponents, Borussia Moenchengladbach have also struggled to find the back of the net throughout this Bundesliga campaign, scoring just 23 goals in 21 rounds. Lars Stindl is currently leading the club’s goalscoring charts with six goals under his belt, while Thorgan Hazard and Raffael have bagged ten goals and three assists between them. Borussia Moenchengladbach can count on their recent away form ahead of this clash, as they are undefeated in the last five away games across all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in three of these.
