Ingolstadt vs Bayer Leverkusen Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Ingolstadt will be aiming to continue their push for survival in the Bundesliga when they welcome Bayer Leverkusen at the Audi-Sportpark on Saturday afternoon. Ingolstadt managed to hold RB Leipzig to a goalless away draw last time out despite the fact that they have failed to deliver a single shot on target. Bayer Leverkusen were beaten 1-4 at home by Schalke 04 last weekend, with their consolation goal being scored by Stefan Kiessling. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides are in dire need of three points here, but both have struggled for fluency recently. The main problem is that both sides have been poor at the back throughout this Bundesliga campaign, so it’s difficult to predict the winner here. Although, I’m backing goals at both ends of the field as the most recent two meetings between these two sides have seen both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Ingolstadt Preview

Ingolstadt managed three consecutive victories over Mainz 05, Augsburg and Darmstadt in the first half of April, but they have failed to win a single game since then. They head into this clash on the back of a three-game winless streak in the Bundesliga, but they did well to snatch a point from their nil-nil draw on the road at RB Leipzig last time out. Ingolstadt still are second from the bottom in the league table, but they are now just four points behind safety. Ingolstadt looked poor at both ends of the pitch throughout this campaign, but scoring goals has definitely been their biggest problem. They have only scored 33 goals in 31 league games, which is one of the worst attacking records in the division. Almog Cohen is the club’s topscorer with seven goals under his belt, while Dario Lezcano and Pascal Gross have bagged nine goals and six assists between them. On home soil, Ingolstadt were on a three-game unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga prior to their 2-4 defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen in their most recent home league fixture. Furthermore, Ingolstadt managed a 1-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the reverse fixture thanks to goals from Alfredo Morales and Almog Cohen.

Ingolstadt Team News

Romain Bregerie is a doubt, but Moritz Hartmann is out through a thigh injury. In addition, Alfredo Morales and De Oliveira Bernardo Roger are both missing through suspension. The good news is that Matthew Leckie is back in training.

Bayer Leverkusen Preview

On the flip side, Bayer Leverkusen had a Bundesliga campaign to forget as they have only won ten of their opening 31 league fixtures so far this season. Lever have only won once in their last ten games in the Bundesliga and come into this tie on the back of a four-game winless streak. Scoring goals has been Leverkusen’s biggest problem over the past month, as they only managed three goals in their last four league fixtures. This is because their topscorer Chicharito, who is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with ten goals under his belt, has failed to score in Lever’s last ten league outings, while their second goalscorer Hakan Calhanoglu has been suspended for the rest of the season towards the end of January. At the other end of the field, Leverkusen have conceded 50 goals in 31 rounds, which is one of the worst defensive records in the division. Their recent away form has also been a problem as Lever have only won two of their last ten away games across all competitions. Head-to-head, Bayer Leverkusen have won two of their three meetings with Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga but suffered a 1-2 home loss in the reverse fixture.
