Hull City vs West Ham United Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Hull City welcome West Ham United to the KCOM Stadium on 01/04/17 as both teams look to get back to winning ways. Hull were hammered 4-0 by Everton last time out, losing heavily once they were reduced to ten men. West Ham too were beaten prior to the international break, as Leicester City came away from the London Stadium with a 3-2 win under their belts. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull have performed well under Marco Silva at home this season and will see this as an excellent opportunity to take three points, facing a West Ham team plagued by injuries and without a win in five. Given those factors against the away side, I’m expecting Hull to get a result here.

Hull Preview

The turning point of Hull’s 4-0 defeat to Everton two weeks ago came when midfielder Tom Huddlestone was dismissed for a reckless challenge on Morgan Schneiderlin. Hull were already a goal down at the time, with young striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin handing the hosts the lead in the first half and Huddlestone’s red card opened the floodgates for Everton. Enner Valencia linked with Romelu Lukaku to double the lead just five minutes after gaining the one-man advantage before the latter scored twice in stoppage time to take his tally for the season to 21 Premier League goals. The initial boost felt by Marco Silva’s arrival on Humberside seems to have wavered slightly, with the Tigers winning just one of their last five Premier League outings. That said, they remain strong at home, losing just once in their last nine in front of their home supporters, winning four and drawing four during that time. Their victory over Swansea on March 11 means they are now just three points below the Swans in the Premier League table and safety from the relegation zone. Hull were unbelievably unfortunate not to come away from their trip to West Ham after striking the woodwork multiple times and will be determined to make up for that defeat here.

West Ham Preview

West Ham lost their second successive game by a 3-2 scoreline last time out, losing 3-2 to resurgent Leicester at home. Riyad Mahrez and Robert Huth both struck within two minutes of each other to give Leicester the lead after seven minutes before Manuel Lanzini’s long-range strike reduced the deficit to one. Jamie Vardy restored the two-goal lead heading into half-time and, despite Andre Ayew’s response and a late barrage of Kasper Schmeichel’s goal, the Foxes somehow held on for the win. West Ham will hope the time they were afforded off due to the international break will serve them well here, after losing three on the bounce before the weekend exodus of the Premier League. Overall, they are without a win in five in the Premier League with two points from a fifteen since November 11, a slump which has seen them slide to 12th in the table with nine games to go. That said, they have lost just twice in their last eight games away from home, winning three and drawing three in that time and have the 8th best away record in the Premier League, as opposed to the 16th worst home points return which averages out as their current position of 12th.
