Hull City vs West Bromwich Albion Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Hull put a seven-game winless run behind them with a 1-0 road success at Bolton to claim a much needed three points. Frazier Campbell got the only goal of a match that neither side really controlled.

West Brom are now three without a victory though did put to an end a two-game losing run after a 1-1 draw with Blackburn. The Baggies dominated the game and were unlucky that a Craig Dawson strike was all they had to show for it.

These two sides were in different divisions last season so you have to go back to the 2016/17 Premier League season for their last meetings. The Midlands outfit are unbeaten in the previous five against the team from Humberside.

Betting Tips and Predictions

West Brom are strong favourites to win this game but given they have won just two of seven on the road I could not be backing them. Hull have won none of their last three at home so I could not be siding with them.

The Baggies have two in their last three, the Tigers just two in their last five so backing both teams not to score appeals. Also, look to oppose the game having an early goal with the market set at 29:00 with the hosts struggling for goals and the visitors scoring three-quarters of their goals in the second-half

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are still second bottom having taken just five points from their last six but they can take heart from the fact that they appears to be six weak teams in the division. They face a tricky run though with each of their next five against sides currently in the top ten.

At the KC Stadium, it is three without a victory though just one in their last four has ended in defeat. The Humberside outfit have seen a total of just seven goals (at both ends) in their last four at home.

A lack of goals has been an issue for Hull this season with only three sides scoring a lower amount than the 12 they have netted. Their defence has been of a mid-level shipping 21 times with 12 of these coming on the road.

Hull City Team News

Reece Burke (hip), Jordy de Wijs (head) are doubts while Jon Toral, Angus MacDonald (both calf), Evandro (hamstring) and James Weir (meniscus) are all long-term absentees.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

The Baggies have slipped a little after a strong start winning just one of their last five and none of their last three. They still sit in fifth and most take advantage of two of their next three coming against the bottom two.

Away from the Hawthorns, they have won just one of their last five and two of seven for the season. Three of their last four and five of their last seven on the road have seen both teams find the back of the net.

West Brom are still the top scorers in the division (by six) with 33 goals though they have netted just two in their last three. Only four teams have conceded more than the 23 the Baggies have shipped.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Dwight Gayle (calf), Kieran Gibbs and Gareth Barry (both unknown) are doubts.
