Hull City vs Watford Match Prediction

Hull City host Watford at the KCOM Stadium on 22/04/17 as the home side look to extend the gap between themselves and the bottom three. Hull once again lost away from home last time out, losing 3-1 at Stoke City. Watford meanwhile beat Swansea City 1-0 to move into the top half of the table. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Hull are fantastic at home, winning five and drawing two of their last seven at the KCOM Stadium. Watford, though, have lost their last three away from home without conceding a goal, and I’m expecting the home side to take three points in this one.

Hull Preview

Hull lost their second successive away game by a 3-1 scoreline last Saturday, this time Stoke City the opponents as they returned to winning ways at the Bet365 Stadium. Marko Arnautovic opened the scoring just six minutes into the contest, but, six minutes into the second half, Hull defender Harry Maguire found the back of the net with a scuffed finish past Lee Grant. Two moments of quality then saw Stoke steal the win, first when Jonathan Walters crossed for Peter Crouch to head home before Xherdan Shaqiri fired in a superb strike from distance to secure the win for the Potters. Hull will be glad to return to home comforts this weekend after successive defeats on the road and will be targeting maximum points from their next two home games, facing Watford and Sunderland. Marco Silva’s side have won their last three in a row at home, winning a total of five and drawing two as part of  a seven-match unbeaten run. They have had no trouble scoring at home in recent weeks, either, scoring eight in their last three victories at home including four in their victory over Middlesbrough. Currently two points clear of the relegation zone going into this weekend, a victory here, with Swansea hosting Stoke on the same day, would be huge for their survival hopes.

Watford Preview

Watford maintained their recent impressive home form last weekend with a 1-0 win over Swansea City at Vicarage Road - a result which massively helped this week’s opponents, Hull. It was a far from attractive goal which ultimately proved to win the contest for Watford, with midfielder Etienne Capoue scoring the game’s only goal in the 42nd minute. Capoue stole the ball from defender Alfie Mawson and saw his initial effort kept out by Lukasz Fabianski, but made no mistake with the follow-up effort, finding the back of the net in doing so. Walter Mazzarri’s men were deserving of the win in the overall context of the game, asserting themselves as the dominant side overall and the Italian manager will be extremely pleased to see his side move back into the top half of the table once again. They have now won their last three games in a row at home and have done so in each game with keeping a clean sheet, also. Away from home, though, it’s been a completely different story for Watford, who have lost their last three on the road in the Premier League without scoring a goal. Now travelling to a Hull team fighting for their lives, who have also been excellent at home, they will need to up their game significantly if they are to get a positive result here.

Hull Team News

Moses Odubajo (knee), David Meyler (knee), Ryan Mason (skull fracture) and Will Keane (cruciate ligament) are all ruled out for the hosts. Omar Elabdellaoui remains doubtful with a back problem.

 

Watford Team News

Younes Kaboul (hamstring), Roberto Pereyra (knee) and Mauro Zarate (cruciate ligament) won’t play again this season for Watford. Craig Cathcart (knee) and Ben Watson (groin) will be assessed this week.
