Hull City vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Two Premier League sides in the shape of Hull City and Swansea City will square off at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with both sides looking to progress in the FA Cup. Hull City were beaten 3-1 on the road at West Brom last time out in the Premier League, despite the fact that they took the lead in the 21st minute through Robert Snodgrass. Meanwhile, Swansea City managed a hard-fought 1-2 away win at Crystal Palace, with Alfie Mawson and Angel Rangel scoring the goals for Paul Clement’s men. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Hull City Preview

Hull City’s disappointing Premier League campaign continued on Monday as they were thrashed 3-1 on the road at West Brom. This means that Hull are now on a nine-game winless streak in the Premier League since a 2-1 home win over Southampton. This poor run of form has taken them all the way to the bottom of the Premier League table, but the good news is they are just three points behind safety. The Tigers have struggled at both ends of the pitch throughout this Premier League campaign, scoring just 17 goals and conceding 44 in 20 rounds. Despite their poor offensive record, Robert Snodgrass has enjoyed a decent season so far, having scored 7 goals in his 19 league appearances. Their home form has also been a problem, as Hull City have only won twice in their last ten home fixtures across all competitions. They are currently on a four-game winless streak at home in the Premier League, conceding at least two goals in three of these. The good news is that Hull have won four of their last five home meetings with Swansea City, keeping a clean sheet in each of these. Regarding their FA Cup recent history, the Tigers managed to reach the final round in the 2013/14 edition, but they have been eliminated in the first round in 2015 and the 5th round last year.

Swansea City Preview

Swansea City have also struggled throughout their Premier League campaign, but they head into this tie with renewed confidence following their hard-fought 1-2 win on the road at Crystal Palace on Tuesday. This victory ended a four-game losing streak in the Premier League, conceding at least three goals in each of these. Similar to their Saturday’s opponents, Swansea have also struggled to keep the ball out of the net this season as they have one of the most leakiest defences in the division, conceding 37 goals in 20 rounds. Their away form has also been an issue, as Swansea were on an eight-game winless run in the Premier League prior to their 1-2 win over Crystal Palace in their most recent league trip. In addition, Swansea have only won twice in their nine visits to the KCOM Stadium, scoring just five goals in the process. Swansea’s recent record in the FA Cup hasn’t been very good, as they have lost five of their last nine games in the competition, and were eliminated in the first rounds over the past two years. Leroy Fer and Fernando Llorente are Swansea’s joint top scorers in the Premier League this season, having scored six goals each so far. Gylfi Sigurdsson has also played a crucial role in Swansea’s performances throughout this campaign, helping the team with a decent return of 5 goals and 6 assists in his 20 league appearances.

Hull City Team News

William Keane, Moses Odubajo, Gregory Roland Luer, Alex Bruce and Abel Hernandez are all missing through injury, but Brian Lenihan is a doubt. The good news is that Allan McGregor is back in training following his back injury.

Swansea City Team News

Jefferson Montero is the only injury absentee for Swansea ahead of this trip.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both teams have been struggling throughout this Premier League campaign so far this season, and it’s difficult to predict the winner in this one. However, both have conceded plenty of goals of late and hold one of the worst defensive records in the division, so I’m expecting a high-scoring affair here.
