Hull City vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday early evening (17:30) fixture is live on Sky Sports and features in opposite halves of the table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Hull stretched their unbeaten run to four fixtures with a 2-0 victory over Brantford thanks to a first-half Fraizer Campbell brace. The Tigers were the better side and the Bees can have few complaints about the result.

Swansea made it back-to-back victories with a 2-1 home success over Sheffield Wednesday last time out. Bersant Celina and Wayne Routledge grabbed one each in a game that the Welsh side just edged.

The Tigers have won each of the previous head-to-head meetings between the pair with the latest coming in March 2017. Just two of their previous seven battles have seen both teams find the back of the net.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull are slight favourites for this game and while I have been impressed by their recent run of form I do not think this is the week to be backing them. Swansea are tricky side and of the three options a draw would be the most likely.

Goals might not be in high supply here with none of the last eight at the KC going over 2.5 goals while five of the last eight on the road for the Swans have also gone under. We might also have to wait for the first goal which is set at 29:00.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are starting to show life having taken eight points from their last four fixtures and are starting to climb. They sit in 17th though there is now a five point gap between them and Millwall in 22nd.

At the KC Stadium, they have lost just one of their last five and two of their last eight and these came against Forest and Leeds. None of the last eight at their own place have gone over 2.5 goals.

Hull would be as high as eighth if the Championship was settled by scores after the opening 45 minutes. 13 of the 23 goals they have scored in the league have come before the half-time break.

Hull City Team News

Jordy de Wijs (thigh), Reece Burke (hamstring) and Eric Lihaj (calf) are doubts while Evandro, Jon Toral, Angus MacDonald (all calf) and James Weir (meniscus) are long-term absentees.

Swansea City Preview

The Swans have won three and lost three of their last six with two of these victories coming in their last two. They sit in ninth place which is three places and four points outside the top six.

Away from the Liberty Stadium,  the Welsh side have won two of their last three though won none of the five prior to that. Each of their last two and two of their last three on the road have seen both teams net.

Swansea would be as low as 17th in a Championship table that is just based on results after 45 minutes. 14 of the 24 goals that they have conceded in the league this campaign have come before the break.

Swansea City Team News

Courtney Baker-Richardson (ankle), Daniel James (hamstring), Tom Carroll (hip), George Byers, (groin) and Jordi Govea (unknown) are doubts. Martin Olsson (Achilles) has been ruled out for the season.
