Hull City vs Sheffield Wednesday Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides who are in the bottom-half of the Championship table but are unlikely to go down.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.
Hull made it back-to-back victories with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Burton Albion on Tuesday night.  Kamil Grosicki grabbed a brace while Will Keane, Harry Wilson and David Meyler (penalty) grabbed one each.
Sheffield Wednesday have now lost back-to-back games going down to a 4-2 loss on the road to QPR in midweek.  Fernando Forestieri and Atdhe Nuhiu got the goals but by then they were already four down and the game was beyond them.
The reverse fixture came early in December and that ended in a 2-2 draw with Gary Hooper brace for the Owls and one each by Frazier Campbell and Michael Dawson for the Tigers.  It means that four of their last five meetings have ended all-square.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull are playing well now but given that these two teams are on identical points from 42 matches it is probably safe to assume they are of similar ability.  Even allowing for home advantage Sheffield Wednesday are over-priced here and as such I would recommend them along with the draw in the double chance market.

Both teams have been among the goals lately and involved in high-scoring matches so take the double of YES both teams to score and over 2.5 goals.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers are now unbeaten in their last four and have taken 14 points from the last 21 available to them.  They are now ten points above the relegation zone and can be completely confirmed as safe with a victory here or a Barnsley or Bolton defeat.

At the KC Stadium, they are playing well with just one defeat from their last 11 and three victories from their last six.  The 41 goals they have scored at their own ground has only been bettered by Wolves in the division.

Kamil Grosicki and David Meyler both have netted two goals in their last three league appearances.  In three of their last four and four of their last six Hull have not conceded a goal.

Hull City Team News

Jarrod Bowen (foot), Evandro (groin) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.

Sheffield Wednesday Preview

The Owls have lost their last two but a run of ten points from their four prior to that means they are all but mathematically safe for another season.  They now face a run of four with only leaders Wolves among their opponents in the top ten.

Away from Hillsborough, they have won two of their last three but just three of their previous 13.  Atdhe Nuhiu has found the back of the net in his last three appearances on the road.

Each of the last five Sheffield Wednesday league games have gone over 2.5 goals with three of their last four going over 3.5.  The Yorkshire outfit have scored 66% of their goals in the second-half and 46% in the final 30 minutes.

Sheffield Wednesday Team News

Ross Wallace (knee), Barry Bannan and Kieran Westwood (both groin) are doubts.  Steven Fletcher (knee), Gary Hooper, Kieran Lee (both hip), Sean Clare (ankle), Joost van Aken (ankle) and Morgan Fox (ankle) are all long-term absentees.
