Hull City vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Hull were scheduled to play at Portman Road against Ipswich on Saturday but the fixture was postponed. They last played on the previous Tuesday where they needed a Michael Dawson goal to rescue a point at home to Barnsley. Millwall were in action at the weekend as their game with Sunderland got the go ahead and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Shaun Hutchinson got the goal in a tie that the Lions dominated in expected goals data but had to settle for a point. The reverse fixture came in November at the Den and it ended in a goalless draw. It means that the London side have won just one of the last five head-to-head meetings with the Yorkshire team.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the match prices on offer here that have Hull the marginal favourites but also pay respect to the form that Millwall are in. I would struggle to pick a winner of the game and as such would look at other markets to find the value. 20 of the 35 the visitors have played this season in the league have been level going into the break and this looks value once more. This also means it is a sensible approach to take the match not to have an early goal with the time set at 31:00.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have taken seven points from their last four and are unbeaten in their last two as they try to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. They sit in 20th place three points above Birmingham in 22nd with a game in hand. At the KC Stadium, they are unbeaten in their last seven though five of these have ended in draws. The last four matches in front of their own fans have produced a total of just three goals with two of them ending 0-0. 11 of the last 14 goals that have been scored in Hull City league games have come in the opening 45 minutes. Just one of their last six against Millwall have gone over 2.5 goals with three going under 1.5 goals.

Hull City Team News

Jon Toral (unknown), Harry Wilson (shoulder), Ondrej Mazuch (hamstring), Markus Henriksen (ankle), Stephen Kingsley (groin) and Abel Hernandez (Achilles) are doubts. Moses Odubajo and James Weir (both knee issues) are long-term absentees.

Millwall Preview

It is now nine Championship fixtures without defeat for the Lions a run that has seen them move into the top half of the table. They now face a decent run of games with none of their next five against a top eight side. Away from the Den, they have won four straight netting eight in these ties and conceding just three (all of which came in one game). Nine of the 14 road goals they have scored this season have come in their last five. Millwall have failed to find the back of the net in just one of their last 12 Championship matches. Just 24% of the goals they have scored this season have come in the opening 30 minutes.

Millwall Team News

Byron Webster (knee) and Aiden O’Brien (ankle) are long-term absentees
