Hull City vs Leeds United Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) Championship fixture is a Yorkshire derby between two sides in opposite halves of the division. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Hull were in FA Cup Fourth Round action this weekend and they booked their place in the next stage with a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest thanks to a goal each from Jarrod Bowen and Nouha Dicko. In the league, they will look to bounce back after losing their last fixture 1-0 at Sunderland.

Leeds had no FA Cup action this weekend after going out to Newport in the previous round. In the league, they last their last one which was a seven-goal epic against Millwall that saw Pierre Michel-Lassoga net a brace, Kemar Roofe grab one and Liam Cooper dismissed.

The reverse fixture came just before Christmas at Elland Road and United won a narrow contest 1-0 that day thanks to a Pablo Hernandez goal. It means that the home side has been successful in three of their last four meetings.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I know Leeds are in the middle run of form but so are Hull and given the visitors are in the top-half of the table I am shocked to see them available at such a big price. I will take the security of the draw no bet as the Tigers have drawn a few at home recently but United look the value choice here.

Neither side are blessed with goalscorers though the under 2.5 goals is a little too short so perhaps try a play on NO in the both teams to score market which would have paid in six of the last seven for the home team and five of the last seven for the visitors

Hull City Preview

It is no league victory in seven for the Tigers now with just three points coming from these fixtures. They have now slumped to 21st level on points with Sunderland though they do have a far better goal-difference than anyone around them.

At the KC Stadium, they are unbeaten in their last four and have drawn each of their last three including games with Brentford, Derby and Fulham all sides playing well. Nine of their last 11 have been high scoring and both teams score, the other two have ended 0-0.

A lack of goals has been an issue for Hull recently with just two in their last seven Championship fixtures blanking in six of them. Their defence has been strong though with just five conceded in these matches which is a joint-third best in the division.

Hull City Team News

Will Keane (cruciate), Kami Grosicki (ankle), Stephen Kingsley (groin) and Abel Hernandez (Achilles) are doubts. Ryan Mason (skull fracture), Moses Odubajo and James Weir (both knee) are long-term absentees.

Leeds United Preview

A run of three defeats from four and just one point from these fixtures has seen them slide down into ninth. United have seven of their next eight against teams in the top ten so will be looking for all three points here.

Away from Elland Road, they have lost their last two 1-0 but before that had won three straight. Their 14 road matches have produced a total of 40 goals which is close to an average of three per fixture.

Three of the last four Leeds league games have gone under 2.5 goals the last one though produced seven goals. Sending-offs are a real issue for the Whites as in three straight games they have had a player dismissed.

Leeds United Team News

Eunan O’Kane, Liam Cooper, Samuel Saiz and Kalvin Phillips are all suspended. Caleb Ekupan (foot) and Ronaldo Vieira (knock) are doubts while Luke Ayling (ankle) is out for the remainder of the season.
