Hull City vs Fulham Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday (30th) afternoon (15:00) fixture is between two sides at different ends of the Championship form table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Hull battled out a useful point as they drew 0-0 at home to Derby County on Boxing Day. The Tigers were the better team and the one most likely to score according to the expected goals data. Fulham continued their recent good form as they became the first team to win at the Cardiff City Stadium emerging with a 4-2 success. The London side shared the goals around the team with one each from Tim Ream, Floyd Ayite, Ryan Sessegnon and Stefan Johansen. The reverse fixture came in September and it was Fulham who won that one 2-1 with a goal each for Floyd Ayite and Stefan Johansen while Jarrod Bowen netted for the Tigers. It continues a trend of goals with five of their last six head-to-heads going over 2.5.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Fulham might be a popular bet here given that they have gone to Cardiff and Sheffield United in recent weeks and got all three points. I do worry that they throw in the odd flat road performance such as the one against Sunderland so I would look elsewhere for my bets especially as Hull just held Derby. The under 2.5 goals is the outsider of two here and given how tight Hull have looked to keep things in recent weeks this looks a good bet. Their last three fixtures have produced a total of just two goals and I think it could be similarly tight here. Just one of the last six for the home side have seen an early goal and given how tight things were against Derby I expect the same tactics from Nigel Adkins here so take the game to have no goal before 27:00.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have had a mixed set of results since Nigel Adkins took over with one victory, one draw and two defeats. They currently sit in 19th place four points above the bottom three with three of their next four coming against teams in the lower third. At the KC Stadium, they have won just one of their last six and just four times over the whole season. They are entertaining to watch for neutrals with a total of 49 goals from their 12 matches in front of their own fans. Under Nigel Adkins Hull have tightened up and their last three games have produced a total of just two goals with the Tigers netting none of these. The Humberside outfit would be as high as tenth if the league was decided on results after 45 minutes.

Hull City Team News

Kamil Grosicki (ankle), Stephen Kingsley (groin), Will Keane, Moses Odubajo (both knee), Jon Toral (leg), David Meyler (unknown) and Ondrej Mazuch (hamstring) are doubts. Ryan Mason (fractured skull), James Weir (knee) and Abel Hernandez (Achilles) are long-term absentees.

Fulham Preview

It is now three victories out of four for Fulham who are beginning to find some form as they bid to get themselves among the play-off mix. They currently sit in 11th place but that is just six points behind Sheffield United in sixth. Away from Craven Cottage, they have won at Sheffield United and Cardiff in recent times but lost at Sunderland and Brentford. The 20 road goals they have scored this season is the joint best in the division. If the league was decided on results after just 45 minutes then the Cottagers would be as high as fifth having only been behind four times going into the interval. Floyd Ayite has two in his last two and Ryan Sessegnon four in the last four on the road.
