Hull City vs Everton Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Hull City welcome Everton to the KCOM Stadium on 30/12/16 with both teams coming into this one off the back of alternate results last time out. Hull were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City thanks to a stellar second-half showing from the visitors, while Everton became just the third side to beat Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Hull Preview

Hull’s winless streak was extended to seven matches last time out, after going down 3-0 to Manchester City at home in their last outing. Despite holding the away side to a draw in the first half, City moved up a gear in the second, finding the back of the net through Yaya Toure, Kelechi Iheanacho and a Curtis Davies own goal, all of which were scored in the final twenty minutes of the contest. The Davies goal in particular was indicative of their season so far, highlighting the misfortune of this team in recent weeks and these kind of things tend to happen when you’re stuck at the bottom. Relegation looks a really realistic possibility for this side, who just appear to simply lack the quality required to mount a realistic fight for survival. Mike Phelan is one of football’s nice guys but he needs to start getting points on the board should he hope for his job to remain safe. That said, the defeat to City was the first they’ve suffered at home in their last four, and they will feel this is a game that they can still get a positive result from. To do that, though, they will have to find the back of the net, something they have managed to do just fourteen times in their eighteen league games thus far.

Romelu Lukaku to score first 10/3

Everton Preview

Everton bounced back from their disappointing Merseyside Derby defeat in resilient fashion, beating defending Premier League champions Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium last time out. Previously, only Arsenal and West Brom had beaten the Foxes on their home turf since the arrival of Claudio Ranieri, but Ronald Koeman’s men added their name to that list, starting with Kevin Mirallas’ 51st minute opener. Then, after dealing with a Leicester ball into the box, Ross Barkley picked out Romelu Lukaku, who bullied his way past Wes Morgan and Marcin Wasilewski before coolly slotting past Kasper Schmeichel to round off the victory for the away side and help ease the pain of a week prior. This is Everton’s last Premier League fixture until the new year - where Koeman will face his former side Southampton - and they will certainly welcome the opportunity to bring fresh faces in at Goodison Park. Boxing Day’s win at Leicester was their first on the road in six games on their travels, with this really a game they would expect to take maximum points from should they hope to finish in the top seven this term.

Hull Team News

Moses Odubajo (knee), Alex Bruce (achilles), Abel Hernandez (hernia) and William Keane (cruciate ligament) are all ruled out for Hull. Allan McGregor (back) is a doubt so David Marshall should stay in goal.

Everton Team News

Muhamed Besic and Yannick Bolasie are both ruled out with cruciate ligament injuries for Everton. James McCarthy (hamstring) is out, while Maarten Stekelenburg (leg) is also expected to be unavailable, leaving Joel Robles to continue in goal.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Hull battled well against Manchester City but once again it was a real lack of quality which cost them in the end. Everton, whilst still not completely convincing, should have too much for their opponents here, particularly if Romelu Lukaku is on song.
