Hull City vs Brentford Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides at opposite ends of the Championship form table. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Hull come into the game on the back of a useful point away to Sheffield Wednesday in a 2-2 draw. The Tigers took the lead through Frazier Campbell but needed an injury-time goal from Michael Dawson to rescue a point. Brentford continued their recent good form with a 3-1 victory over Fulham in a game where their opponents had a player sent-off in the 53rd minute. A goal each from Sergi Canos, Romaine Sawyers and Ollie Watkins enabled them to claim all three points. The last time these two sides met was in the 2015-16 Championship season and Hull won both games 2-0. In fact, the Tigers have won each of the last five head-to-heads between the duo.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Under normal circumstances, I think Brentford would represent a good bet given the form of the two sides and that the London outfit look the stronger team. I would tread with a little bit of caution as Hull are under a new manager and it is difficult to know what that will do for them. I think the Tigers might look to keep things tight here under their caretaker boss and with around 70% of the Bees goals coming in the second-half bet on the second 45 minutes to be the highest scoring and no early goal.

Hull City Preview

Leonid Slutsky has paid the price of a run of seven without a victory and just two in 14 and is no longer the Hull City manager. Nigel Adkins is the man who has been trusted with keeping the Tigers in the division. At the KC Stadium, they have taken just one point from their last four matches though these fixtures were all against top 14 teams.  Each of their last six in front of their own fans has seen both teams score and gone over 2.5 goals. Nine of the last 11 goals that the Tigers have conceded have come in the final 25 minutes with five of these coming in the final ten. Frazier Campbell has scored five times in the last ten fixtures and in each of the last two.

Hull City Team News

Stephen Kingsley, Adama Diomande (both groin), Will Keane (knee), Abel Hernandez (Achilles), Moses Odubajo (knee) and Ryan Mason (fractured skull) are all doubts. James Weir (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Brentford Preview

The Bees continued their climb up the table and have now lost just one of their last 13 in the league which came away to second placed Cardiff. They are now into 11th and each of their next three are against teams below them in the table. Away from Griffin Park, they have lost none of their last six and have won their two previous on their travels against bottom six opponents. Five of their last seven on the road have gone over 2.5 goals and four of these have seen both teams score. Around 70% of goals this season they have scored have come in the second-half and nine of their last 11 have come after the interval. The London outfit have scored an impressive 17 goals from their last seven fixtures.

Brentford Team News

Neal Maupay is available after suspension while Henrik Dalsgaard (heel) and Lasse Vibe (hamstring) are doubts.  Alan Judge (leg) and Rico Henry (knee) are long-term absentees.
